GOP record of failure
by Cyrus
+1/-1 Reply

Everywhere you look, the catastrophe of authoritarian Republican misrule is manifest.

  • Higher Gas Prices - When Bush took office the cost of a gallon of gas was $1.47, today a gallon of gas is $4.08. [Fuel Gauge report.]
  • Higher Unemployment - When Bush took office the unemployment rate was 4.9%, today it is 5.6%. [Department of Labor]
  • More Americans Without Health Insurance - When Bush took office, there were 39.8 million Americans without health insurance. Today, there are more than 47 million Americans without health insurance. [Center on Budget and Policy Priorities; US Census].
  • Higher Food Costs- This year alone, the price of food in America has increased 5.1%. [<link>]

When Bush took office I was a teenager. Now i'm in my twenties. It's totally his fault. Damn him for making me age!

surely you can find some actual GOP failures like the increased in domestic spending

growing the govt

failing the occupation of Iraq and so on.....none of the things that you mentioned have anything to do with the GOP

Reactionaries

like to talk about accountability, but don't ever ask one to actually take any. Nothing it seems is ever their responsibility.

But of course that won't matter much longer, will it? Soon we'll have real adults in office who are not afraid of responsibility.

sorry to disappoint you pal

but Yobama and his crew want to punish the US.
Happily, the American people
by Cyrus

feel differently about what is the responsibility of the party in power. But I do agree with you that my list is not exhaustive.

But who has the time to try and enumerate the full panopoly of GOP bad government?

270% increase? Downright reasonable considering oil has risen 500% since inauguration day, 2000. Unfortunately, both presidential candidates believe deficits don't matter, so I expect the Dollar to weaken more under either of them and inflation to continue. Free Lunch Lives, but you pay for it at the pump and the grocery store.

Got that crack pipe going pretty good?

It's the trade deficit
by Cyrus

that will destroy the dollar-not the federal deficit.

But when those bond holders (Chinese and Saudis) do start rushing for the exists--watch out!

Then I guess you are the exception
by Cyrus

that makes the rule. This is probably a good thing for you because cocaine is an analgesic. And you will no doubt want something to deaden the pain come November when you watch your reactionary, authoritarian anti-utopia come crashing down.

Trade deficit has held fairly flat at $700 billion for awhile while the dollar has tanked and commodities spiked. They are all linked, but I prefer my theory, as it is predictive.

The socialists are already in power. The only change will be who benefits, as my grandkid will still pay for it.
