YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by gala1

Which part of ---NO EXPERIENCE is not going to get people to vote for you ---are you not seeing.

Maybe for you it's not wartime or time of financial stress or a feeling that your country has managed to be about to go from corporate looting in the White House to incomprehensible in the Oval Office.

It's not that voters are going for McCain, especially. It's that they can't understand why with Obama they should want to vote for a self-promoter who has shown them nothing tangible to back him up. This isn't the Grammies, it's an election.

It's that the democrats have caved to some shallow partisan agenda and think that with all our problems the way to solve things is to make leadership a matter of pigmentation. Instead of giving the voters a balanced ticket.

I could care less who the first black president might turn out to be. But if it needs to be politician, and it does, wouldn't Charlie Rangel, brilliant, resourceful and a real grown-up be better than some MTV Muppet?

What are the Obamabots going do next, offer a free tank of oil with every vote? And then have the press fawn over how visionary a tactic that is?

People, regardless of party are going to vote for McCain because he fits the job description in the way we want it to.

How delusional do you hav not be to actually believe that the same people who distrust the unfamiliar enough to reject Dean and Kerry and rather than that stunningly voted for Bush a second time, are now going go against every bit of their own logic and vote for Obama.

Oh, sure they are.

On Day One the objection to Obama was that he was inexperienced.

Today he appears even less so, showing us nothing but sulky entitlement issues and worse judgement.

You can foist someone so unsuitable -- a two year junior senator up against a lifetime Congressional mover and shaker --but you cannot make sentient adults vote for him..

WHY WOULD THEY?

That would be the bottom line-question even in the best of times, and if you are living in this country today the only other question is how much worse can these times get?

I am writing in Hillary Clinton. She is the best of the three choices and I now realize that what this election has really made me see is that I am not about to pick party over patriotism.

After being a life-long Democrat, I'll now define myself as an Independent til the day I die.

Obama's only lasting legacy will be to have hoisted the petard of the Democratic Party.

O.K., so your pissed off that your girl didn't get the nomination and you're going to write in her name anyway. Was it her downing shots of whiskey and beer in some Scranton dive that convinced you of her everyperson roots? Or was it her embrace of Johnny Mac's gas tax holiday? Or maybe her dismissal of the criticisms from, ooh, real economists about that same gas tax holiday?

Or could it be that her vote to give the President authorization to use force made you feel better because you didn't see it for what it was, a blatant political move so as not to appear soft on defense. Because all along she knew she was going to be running in '08.

Did you forget how she was supposed to have this thing in the bag from the get-go? Well, it didn't go that way, did it?

There are a lot of people in this country who are willing to gamble on Obama, regardless of his perceived shortcomings to people like you, but you can be sure that if significant numbers of former Clinton supporters vote for McCain simply because "their" girl lost and he wins this election it will be you and your fellow travelers who can celebrate a continuation of the status quo.

You think with your emotions and then get upset for being treated like a sexist stereotype.

Grow up.

BTW. I assume you're a woman. If not, my apologies, though you're acting like one.

Dante--

Actually, it's not even that I am pissed that troglodytes like you surfaced courtesy of your boy and write trash like you just have.

Just which part of NO EXPERIENCE are you in denial about? Because that's the bottom line and you can't do one darn thing to fix it, can you? And you know it.

Hey, deal with it any way you like. It's not going to change one vote at the polls.

If you didn't want Obama before, you won't want him agian when you can write in Hillary.

If you don't like it, what do I care?

It's not about you. It's about the age demographics and the Flyover areas that just WILL NOT vote for Obama.

And there are more of them than there are of you. Tough luck.

If you can't understand that it's not my problem.

But McCain will thank you for making it all possible.

Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by corridorg4
Well I'll be damned, here I am a white female in a flyover state and I am willing to vote for Obama. Do you know why? Because I want to return this country to the greatness it had before GW Bush destroyed it. And John McCain helped him, by voting with him 95% of the time.

it's because I want a woman's right to choose to remain the law of the land. John McCain has always been pro-life and openly admires ultra conservative judges like Antonin Scalia. Justice John Paul Stevens is 86 years old. Do you think he will live long enough to hold out through another Republican administration?

John McCain served in the Vietnam war, but his understanding of this current war is straight out of Donald Rumsfeld's playbook. He talks about victory. There isn't any victory right around the corner. There is only death and destruction dragging out for who knows how many years. In the meantime, our reputation in the world sinks along with our currency and exports.

Experience counts for nothing if you are not willing to recognize that the world is changing and adapt to those changes. John McCain is living in the last century, and its obvious he isn't going to be dragged into this one. We need a president with better judgment than John McCain, and I believe that president should be Barack Obama.
Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by gala1

well good for you, dear.

And I am sure you voted for Kerry-- so did I . It's not about Flyover You. Or about choice. But Kerry's what taught me that it's not what I want--it's demographics.

And if you believe McCain is going to mess with that issue, ask yourself why Bush promised the Religious Wrong and never would touch it with tongs a and a hazmat suit. Sweetie, they know how to read demographics. Promise them anything. Give them only what gets you elected NEXT time.

If Roe was going to get messed with, it would have been by now.

And yet once agian, for perhaps the millionth time I am about to say it again.

Obama has NO EXPERIENCE. Be in denial abut it. What do I care?It won't change one thing at the voting booth.

Why can yo not comprehend that means he is not going to get demographics who HAVE EXPERIENCE and not entitlement instead to vote for him?

The consequence of that is he will not win this election.

I find it utterly fascinating that you are gullible enough to take someone with no tangible experience, a self-promoter with nothing to show but ambition, at his campaign promises word.

You think that Congress has some reason to play ball with a junior senator with two whole years of experience.

You may b e aiming for a canonization. But Congress is going to find just the right size boot heels to dig in the hardest.

They log-jammed Clinton- one of the savviest men on the planet. Just think what they'll do to this Mr. Rodgers re-tread.

Honestly. How naive can you possibly be?

Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by Greatbear452

It's not that Bush didn't promise not to touch Roe, it's that he hasn't have enough nominations in SCOTUS to overturn it.

It's all about SCOTUS and who has the votes. Right now, whoever replaces Stevens (who likely will retire very soon) decides the next abortion case and whether Roe will be overturned. If you're fine with another Alito/Scalia filling that role, then vote for McCain.

But here's what you're just not getting:

People know Obama doesn't have as much much Washington inside experience as Hillary and guess what? They're okay with that. Not being part of the problem for the last eight years is a plus this election.

Here's what else you're just not getting:

Hillary lost. She got beat by a better campaign. No matter how she tried to rewrite the rules, she still came up short. She went from being the inevitable nominee to the 2nd place finisher. Do you think that maybe "experience" in dealing with corrupt lobbyists isn't the most important qualification to many voters?

Hillary lost

Time to accept it.

Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by dantesfurlough

A troglodyte? Wow! But am I a trog because I pointed out some very obvious reasons for why me and many others didn't back Clinton? Or is it because of my stereotypical sexist remark about "acting like one( a woman)?

You think I don't get it? Demographics, huh? You think this 59 yr old white working middle class Viet vet doesn't understand what's going on? Ever since Bush was elected the first time I paid close attention to everything. Much more so than a lot of the other "demographics" that voted for him twice. I wasn't fooled by his lies about smoking gun mushroom clouds. Or what a threat a third rate, third world dictator was. I wasn't suckered by the phony flag waving go to the mall, go to Disneyworld while we cut taxes patriotism. Bullshit!

Osama Bin Laden is still out there. We were going to smoke him out. Get him dead or alive. Oh but Bush has kept us safe since there hasn't been another attack since 9/11. What's that? Seven whole years! But it was nine years between the two Trade Center attacks. You want a continuation of the same? Then by all means vote for MCCain, or even worse throw your vote away by writing in Clintons name.

You keep screaming about Obama's lack of experience and you think I don't GET IT.

Here's what you don't get. It's not about experience. It's about judgment. It's about getting the best information you can to work with and making the best NON-PARTISAN call. Bush didn't have any experience and we can all see where that led us. But, Bush did have what was probably one of the most experienced cabinets in history. Unfortunately, it happened to have a very self serving agenda. And as a result we have all been screwed. It was Bush's lack of judgment that has set the word on fire and has you paying for $4.00 gas while his friends get rich.

As a newbie to the scene what "agenda" could Obama have? Maybe he'll be able to actually deliver on some of the things he has been promising. Many of the very same things Hillary has promised.

I will vote for Obama precisely because he hasn't yet been tainted by the Washington virus. I'm willing to give him that vote because I know that with either McCain or Clinton we will all get more of the same.

Clinton lost not because she was treated badly, by the press or males or anything else. She lost the nomination, which was hers to lose, because she was willing to say and do anything to get to the top and too many people saw through that.

As for her sweeping victories in W. Virginia and Kentucky they were the same yahoos who voted for Bush a second time anyway. In the case of W. Virginia, how could you expect a black candidate to win in a state that's more than 90% white? Oh, but let's not call them racist.

Take a few deep breaths and think everything through. Writing in Hillarys name may make you feel better. But if enough of her supporters do the same thing and the Republicans keep the White House, well...... you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Dante,

You and other Obama supporters like are the ones who are convincing more and more Americans not to vote for Obama. Look a the way you try to argue: your premises are mostly insults.

Additionally, do not expect other Americans to gamble on Obama. Things are getting too bad round here to gamble with the country and its future.

Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by dantesfurlough
Steve, please be more specific. I meant not to insult anyone. did you read my second post?
Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by scooterhedrick

Dantes,

Ignore the BS from these trolls.

First, most are just trouble makers and really don't give a sh*t what your opinion is, they just want to argue. Notice they never say how great McCain (or their candidate) is or come up with some great talking points. Their only bullet is to bad mouth Obama. That speaks volumes about the worth of their candidate.

Second, even if you agree with their point and have a discussion with them (but maintain allegience to you're preferred candidate) they will still bad mouth you. For them it's all or nothing..no discourse, dialog or discussion. "Take no prisoners" should be their motto, or "throw the baby out with the bath water" (if not Hillary then McCain).

PS, the experience issue is still stupid. FOX doesn't even talk about that anymore.

George W. Bush - 5 years public office experience
- Governor of Texas from 1995-2000

Ronald Reagan - 8 years public office experience
- Governor of California 1967-1975

Hillary Clinton - 7 years public office experience
- US Senate 2001-Current

Barack Obama - 11 years public office experience
- Illinois State Senate 1997-2004
- US Senate 2004-Current

Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT

You are really embarrassing yourself with this little experience list you have posted.

Illinois State Senate ? You have got be kidding..LOL

That can't compare to even a governorship, much less experience in the U.S. Senate.

Hussein is NEVER going to be elected President.

AtlantaRepub

Do you have a little intel you would like to share with us? Some deep, dark, little conspiracy by you and your ilk in the works for President Elect Obama? Because that's the only way he won't be president. Your candidate Mr. "no personality, will get slaughtered in the debates, flip-flopper" McCain doesn't stand a chance in hell of being elected. Bigots and necons won't be enough to stop the ground swell of support for MR. OBAMA.

President Barack Hussein Obama has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT

scooterhedrick

You go ahead and tell yourself Mccain has no chance in hell of being elected.

You delusional Obama supporters are THE REASON McCain is going to win in a landslide. You all stomp around and scream 'bigot' or other racially tinged names at whomever does not subscribe to your delusional agenda.

Barack H. Obama is NEVER going to be elected President.

Re: YOU'RE JUST NOT GETTING IT
by Lulubelle22

Yes, the nastier Obama and his supporters get, the less likely people are to vote for him.

Our determination to keep him out of office grows with every lie and insult.

McCain will win in a landslide if the Obama voters keep up their filth fro the next 5 months.

No, best not gamble on an unkown. Keep your money on the current Republican track record of executive leadership. Even if you don't like the Dem candidate, are you effing serious?!
