You are Wrong
by slate1234
You have DRAMATICALLY underestimated the care and concern and mourning among mainstream America for Tim Russert. Tim Russert was not a self-important Washington intellectual. He was not a career journalist. And he is not mourned by only those who are. Tim Russert was someone of blue collar roots who used his position as the moderator of Meet the Press to engage in a dialog with prominent politicians and get straight answers for mainstream America. Therefore, it is those people--people like me--who will possibly even miss him the most. I have soaked in all the information about Mr. Russert I can since his death and my only regret is that I missed some of the tributes you so callously lambasted in your incorrect, ill-researched piece.

Mr. Russert will be sorely missed--it will not seem like election season without him.

No, he's right. The wall-to-wall coverage is embarassing. he was not a head of state. His son did a great job on Monday, but by then it was so overdone it seemed sick. All friday night, all day saturday, all day sunday, every broadcast monday, and now they are televising his "private" service? Jesus.

By the way, he was not "great" at NBC. He rarely said anything useful, and when he did "florida, florida florida", he beat it to death and bragged about it. he did an embarassing job on MTP for the Iraq invasion and the years that followed. His death was unexpected, but that doesn't make him great or worth interminable eulogizing.
