What's In A Name
by GINA EGAN
The daughter angle is Rebecca's strongest (and only) card and she is playing it for all it's worth. I'm sure Alice Walker was not a perfect mother - but who is? How old do you have to be before you realize your parents are human? Remember Patti Davis, who, like Rebecca, had little to offer besides famous daughter status - same story, different politics. She was by her mother's side at Reagan's funeral. When asked about the book and the ridiculous stunts she pulled to embarrass her family, Patti said, "I regret all of it". Davis wasn't smart enough to realize she was being used - big time. Rebecca Walker is not being used - she's using her mother. She is publicly humilitating her mother for ink. It's effective and I find it hard to believe that Alice Walker deserves it. Something else is going on.
