I had a very clever, detailed post planned, but it occurs to me that anyone with Hitch's vocabulary who can say with a straight face that "she devil" merely means "female devil" is not trying hard enough for me to bother with a serious response.

Anyway, even casual observation of the mediaverse would have revealed plenty of sexism at work. Whether it had a decisive impact is pretty hard to say - not too many people will admit that they won't vote for someone because she's a woman.
