Hell Hath No Fury

Like a spurned (read: Spiteful) Female Hillary supporter.

First, a question: are there no spiteful, disaffected Male Hillary supporters out there?

Noooo. Gosh, no. Men, if they change their mind or their party affiliation in a major election, always make sense and use logic, intelligence and fairness. But women! That's another story.

Women, of course, are just naturally spiteful. We All know that. Especially those horriable types who want to grab all the power they can grab, those greedy females who are females in nothing but the officical name of their gender...

Well, I guess this is the way the media is going to spin it. Enlarge upon the fact that some Hillary voters will be switching for McCain and make it seem like it's just a bunch of angry women, as usual. Not men. And not anyone who can think rationally.

Of course, I have to ask: why would any Hillary supporter defect to the McSame camp. It is truly beyond me. Yet, to just attribute it to spite seems both biased and limited in scope.

Maybe it's actually racism. I can buy that. Of course, people of Either gender can be racists, last time I checked.

everybody talks about racism but NOT sexism....interesting

I think I understand what Mara5525 is trying to say. I detect a good deal of sarcasm I believe.

I think you have hit upon something that has plagues Hillary in the media. All of those who voted for her and will now vote for McCain are not scorned women. Last time I checked I am neither. I do not feel my choice is emotional or based on the feeling that I have been wronged somehow.

So yes you are correct if that is what you are getting at. There are some if not many people who fit that bill that considered the facts and issues based upon their own criteria and decided that McCain is a better choice than Obama.

But I think that your point that the media will spin this issue any way they choose, regardless of the facts is one of the major problems in regards to the elections. It is virtually impossible to hear any objective evaluation of any issue.

Hoo boy. I'm a male HRC supporter. I loathe Obama. Can't stand the sound of his voice. I think he's an arrogant phony who believes his own publicity. I would rather be trapped in an elevator for an hourwith Dick Cheney than have a lunch with Obama.

I'm voting for Obama because (a) I'm a Democrat and there's more at stake this year than whether I like him as a person and (b) HRC asked me (asked all of her supporters) to vote for him.

I have too much respect for HRC to fuss about Obama.

There were Democrats who loathed FDR and many more who disliked JFK.

You don't have to LIKE the person or even feel your candidate was treated fairly to vote for the nominee of your party.

Vote PARTY not PERSON.

It's good to see how much political discussions on the Fray have improved since I've been away...

At times it is better, other times it is full of personal attacks.

I really consider voting the party to be the old school method of voting. Going back a ways it was very common in the old style machines to pull the Dem lever instead of looking at each race. I thought Obama is all about new politics.

I do not think you need to like the candidate to vote for him if you like his ideas. So sorry Hillary but I will not listen to you this time but in 4 years you can count on my vote.

It's hard for me to believe that these same HRC supporters [myself included] would [dare] vote McBush and further fling this country into the deeper republican abyss that is killing all of us now, simply out of spite. Do I think Obama is the best candidate? No. She lost. Do I want more of the same poisonous fog we've been living in for the last 8 years? No way. Obama has my vote.

"I have too much respect for HRC to fuss about Obama."

I was thinking earlier today that the post-Hillary McCain supporters wont be doing HRC any favors. Her influence in the Senate in particular and the party in general will be directly related to how well she delivers the vote this Nov.

Politics isn't a nice business. If HRC doesn't pull in her constituents, we won't see the Clinton name on the late 2009 (possibly early 2010) Healthcare bill. There will be a bill, and it will have a democratic senator's name, but it doesn't have to be Clintons name. (The Dems will want to show progress on this issue before the mid-terms.)

This is an argument that I find quite humorous. Senator Obama's supporters talk about how much they despise Senator Clinton, and how, despite an incredibly close contest, they want "anyone but her" in the VP slot, and then they lay the ground work for blaming her, when Senator Obama loses. How exactly do you logically make that leap?

If Senator Obama's nomination means that you (supposed Democrats that you are) have declared Clintonism dead and buried, then why is it that you would assume she would have the power to deny him the WH?

I think you are taking this a step further than I intended. Certainly, much of HRC's future is determinate on Obama reaching the White House. Also, her future is determinate on how well she can deliver the vote for the party and its members.

A senator or rep. from MN doesn't give a bucket of warm spit for HRC voters who only vote for HRC. They care about HRC voters who vote for democrats (mainly themselves).
