Living the change right now!
by Janipurr
I am a night person who has become a morning person, though not by choice. After 8 years of working the Graveyard shift (10pm to 8am), I just started a new job 2 months ago where I start work at 7:30 AM! I have to get up at 5AM!

I spent the last 8 years readjusting my schedule from nightshift all week to day shift every weekend, so getting up at the same time every day--and then being awake during the day on my days off--wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I knew I was adjusted last week, when I forgot to set my alarm--and I only woke up 10 minutes late.

I still don't jump out of bed full of energy, though, and I still need 2 cups of coffee to make me conscious enough to climb into the shower. And I still can't get to sleep before 10pm. You can't change everything about a night person. The most important thing is not sleeping in too late on the weekends, because then monday is HARD!

Here's what worked for me. And it was deceivingly simple:

No sugar at night.

That's it. No cookies. No soda. No fruit. No bread. No popcorn. No yogurt. No simple or complex carbs.

Strangest freakin' thing in the world. After a week of this diet, I was up at the crack of dawn wide awake. It probably won't work for everybody, but it's worth a shot!
