You honestly think a woman would use her one (and hopefully only) dream wedding day as a ruse to humiliate her father and his wife?
Well, these are the same charming people who call their father's wife a whore and publicly snub him. And never underestimate the viciousness of a bitter ex-wife who lost her meal ticket. So, yeah, I think they are quite capable of using this blessed occasion as an opportunity to further insult their father. If these folks have one-tenth the nastiness in them of the comments posted here on this subject, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a hit man pop out of the wedding cake.
Before he decides whether or not to go, Dad ought to ask himself, "Why was I invited?" He is really the only one who could answer this question at all accurately. The reasons could range from benign (the children really would like to stop the nastiness and re-connect) all the way to vicious (set up for humiliation). With something neutral in the middle (bride wants a complete set of parents in her photos so she can have the "perfect" wedding). We don't know enough of the back story to guess correctly, but Dad no doubt does, and he should accept or reject accordingly (or at least be prepared - bullet proof vest and all).
Enough is enough already with this childishness. My best advice is for Dad and his wife just to be happy and love each other. It will drive the ex crazy.
