Infected Tomatoes
by TheEuropean

The problem is clear: the U.S. want to produce cheap, cheap and cheaper. Chlorine is used to wash vegetables and poultry, something that is unheard of in Europe and which caused an 11 year importation ban of poultry to the EU.

The last time I was in the U.S:, I even could not drink tapped coke because of the chlorine in the water it was produced with. That was not in NYC, but in the blue ridge mountains!

Keep water, meat and vegetables clean and you need no chlorine.

Cheap versus Quality

The US food industry uses the chlorine washing process on its poultry to kill off bacteria, including salmonella, before it reaches consumers' plates.

EU veterinary experts favour hygiene controls throughout the hatching and rearing cycle to better ensure that the bacteria does not develop in the first place.

We grow our vegetables in dirt.

I guess you don't do that in Europe, huh?

That's why you guy's never have any disease.

It must be nice being so damned superior.

Actually, there was a piece in the news earlier this week to the effect that salmonella can infect plants through the soil entering the roots without having anything to do with washing one way or the other.

JackD that is how the E Coli got in the spinach earlier in the year. The problem is the factory farms and the large amounts of wastes they produce getting into the ground water and polluting everything. Here in NC we have water ways destroyed from the hog farms.

The problem is the US imports the majority of their produce from other countries that do not have to abide by our FDA standards. Chlorine does not cause salmonella.

Chlorine kills germs; it does not encourage them.

The last time I was in Europe, I had to drink bottled water everywhere because the tap water wasn't safe to drink.

I'd rather be able to drink out of a hose knowing that the germs are dead and my teeth are being coated in fluoride than drink slightly-better-tasting Coke (which is far from healthy anyway)

The truth is that factory farming causes disease outbreaks EVERYWHERE, including Europe, as NightSwimmer helpfully pointed out.

The problem with the flavor of our colas (if there is one) is due to the use of corn syrup sweetener, rather than sugar.

I don't know if this is the case in Europe. I do know that Coca-Cola manufactures some cola with sugar. It is available as a kosher drink in certain parts of the country.

I'm not sure that I understand why corn syrup isn't kosher.

When people stop supporting farms producing animal products, then we may have uncontaminated vegetables and fruit to eat. The US Dept. of Agriculture must have missed Topps who had the recent recall of tons of beef because their facility was dirty. We can not trust the government, we should only trust God who created us to be plant-eaters. It's time to eat according to God's original plan and live healthy lives, spiritually and physically.

God's Creatures Ministry

Re: Infected Tomatoes
by bbecker
You try take my meat away, I'll just grill and eat you crazy vegetarians instead. If we're supposed to be plant eaters, then why do we have canine teeth instead of all pet-shaped teeth? Huh? You religious types can't answer that question, can you? Why not? Because the Bible is OK for morality tales but it is NOT a science book in any way, shape, or form. I would greatly appreciate persons like yourself at least ATTEMPTING to think critically for yourselves rather than lamely trying to cite the Bible - or any other religious book - as an academic or scientific authority. I'm going to continue eating meat - you bleeding hearts crazys can do as you please so long as you don't infringe on my rights. What is this God's Creatures Ministry anyway? Another stupid cult?
Re: Infected Tomatoes

Take those canines and try to chew through a cows hide and eat the meat raw. Oh wait, you can't your teeth are not sharp enough. You can eat whatever you like but, don't use the canines for the reason you eat meat. Primates have canines too. To paraphrase John Robbins, if you put a toddler in a playpen with a rabbit and a apple I bet the child plays with the rabbit and eats the apple.

It's 'All About the Money' people. Look at the bigger picture because ignorance is not bliss. If we do not have clean, safe water we are basically doomed. Chlorine and flouride (just to name the two that are well known) are poisons that when ingested over years causes premature aging, sickness and death. All tap water is harmful. Our ground water is polluted. Swimming pool chemicals are absorbed through the skin and your daily showers/baths are like a gas chamber. Animals and byproducts are injected/infused with chemicals & carcinogens. Dyes are put in fish for color, flavored/colored waters, JELLO that we give our children. Sugar is a drug and high fructose corn syrup! Everything that you buy in a box or a can is worthless. Microwaves nuke out any remaining nutrition. We should not have to ingest man made vitamins!! Pesticides on our vegetables and fruits. The growers soil is depleted as of about 30 years ago. Only a diet of real organic fruits/vegetables/grains and nuts with whole food supplements (green) are safe. Purified water/mineral water from a reputable and trusted source, purifiers for tap and shower water. Yes, all these things cost money that many unfortunate people don't have. I say, "eat less and be thin and healthy". Plant and grow your own gardens as small as they might be. Quit going to fastfood places. In America, it is not the 'healthcare industry'. It is the 'sickcare industry'. Over 1 million people will get cancer this year. Presciption drugs are being legally pushed on the public through TV commercials. Is this a form of brainwashing? HELLO.They are known to create side effects that cause disease and illness. Over population. War is a reason for that plus massive amounts of dollars in their pockets but 'Money is Power'. Space projects that cost billions of dollars and are causing massive global warming. Our earth, water and air are almost void for healthy living. It is a shame what has happened to the gifts that GOD gave us.
Corn Syrup Can Be Kosher
by Sovereign8
It isn't considered Kosher for Passover, however, by most observant European and American Jews. Their reasoning has something to do with corn's ability to "leaven," which is not feared by Sephardics, I've read.

Sodas Kosher for Passover are sweetened with sugar only. They sell very fast because they taste better and are in great demand down South, as well as in the Jewish areas.

Vodka has similar rules and can't be made from grain during Passover, when a Kosher person can drink vodka made from fruit or molasses.

It also must be nice to be so high and mighty that we can crack on others with ignorant arguments and feel good about our comments. TheEuropean has a point, and a mighty good one. Your use of an explitive, even one so innocent as "damned" in your argument invalidates yours.

To quote a humorous bumper sticker, "I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables."

The fact is, humans are biologicially designed to be omnivorous, not exclusively herbivorous. We have incisors for cutting. This is primarily for meat. If we were made to be strict veggie-vores we'd have all flat teeth like cows. And ask any evolutionary biologist why we have stomach acid and he'll tell you the truth. It really serves no other purpose in our digestive system than to axe nasty bacteria. It's why we can give people with rampant heartburn mega-doses of Nexium and essentially stop ALL stomach acid production and they still digest just fine. Hydrochloric acid in our stomachs is a holdover from the times when our diets were mostly meat because we couldn't or didn't know how to farm. And, up until recently when we started letting people take dumps in our veggie patches, where do we find the nasty bacteria we need to kill if we accidentally ingest them? IN MEAT!!!! So if we're not made to eat meat, why do we have it?
