Are doodles appropriate for Memorial Day?
by bearcat98

Google's doodles are lighthearted and fun. Memorial Day is a somber occasion to remember those who died in the service of our country. I can't imagine it being given the dignity it deserves by some frivolous doodles.

Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone disagree?

Google posted a doodle for Veteran's Day/Remembrance Day in 2007. Take a look here.

Except that Google on their UK site incorporate poppies as part the UK memorial day (can't remember the date). they also put them on other commonwealth sites. such as ANZAC Day in 2006

they did Veterans day in 07

It would be nice if they were consistent, but they aren't

I personaly don't worry about what a person says or does. These doodles don't harm me or anyone else. You can form your own opinions about how "Un American" these doodles are. Not long ago a few comics were posted on Islam. It was all over the news. If I remember correctly they were a bit of a joke on the religion. Many of the Islam faith were so ticked off that there were protests and also some violence. I get picked on about my personal beliefs. I just don't get my pantys in a bunch about it. Freedom of religion is just one of the rights that we have in this country. We also have the right to free speech.

In short. If somebody finds the doodles to be offensive. Then don't go on google and find another web site to do a search.
