Off-topic, but...
by Kit-Kat

Fox News just referred to Michelle Obama as "Obama's Baby Mama." It was a network-produced headline broadcast on the screen during a discussion between Michelle Malkin and Megyn Kelly.

Discussion question: is Fox (a) sexist, (b) racist, (c) clueless, (d) all of the above?

Caveat before someone refers to me as an Obamaniac who dismissed sexism in the media against Clinton during her campaign and is now getting my just deserts: I agree that sexist comments were also made about Clinton during her campaign, many of them on Fox (surprise, surprise). I found them abhorrent and indefensible then. I just don't think that's why she lost.

(e) not worth watching.

Well, that's a given.

This is off-topic too, but here's the new Obama Girl video.

That's just FUNNY!!
by Thevail

Ok the video,

Not making unpleasant CLASS slurs at Michelle Obama.Which is exactly what one would expect rom Faux News. These people are all, without exception, bought and paid for Rupert Murdoch meat puppets.

If I have this correct "baby momma" and "baby daddy" implies basically an ignorant teenager who is unmarried to the person they got pregnant or got pregnant by. It further has connotations of undereducation, poverty, and general ghetto-trashy-ness. It almost always refers to blacks specifically, so it's racial as well.

Basically they just demoted Michelle Obama from Princeton grad..to ghetto- uterus in one fell swoop. And this is only the opening volley. They're actually trying to get Obama mad enough to blow a gasket and give them more material.

And people thought HRC had it rough with the media.

Oh, but now you're going to hear
by differnetEllen

the DNC fight back. LOL Truly sickening. Watch the Obmaniac's loose their minds now.

And the answer is D).

I have no pity for Michelle or her husband on this topic. They could have spoken up in Clinton's defense, but they was absolutely silent. Reap what you sow.

You know what gets my goat is how
by differnetEllen
the liberal bastions of the media attacked Clinton and that went unnoticed by you guys too. When Randi Rhodes called her a "fucking whore," or Ken Rudin of NPR likened Clinton to Glenn Close's character in "Fatal Attraction" that ent unnoticed too. You guys want to blame the conservative media for the attacks, but it was the liberals too. Feminism is dead and you generation killed it.

Believe it or not, I don't listen to NPR, so I really didn't know that.

And which show is Randi Rhodes on?

Also, I didn't hear Clinton say anything about this stuff? Did she? I'm seriously asking, did anyone throw a fit at the time?

I wrote to the Keith Olberman show after he went ballistic in his "special comment". Not defending what Clinton said, mind you, but to say he'd gone WAY TOO FAR.

This might be the new Obama theme. I love the wounded fish dance.

Randi Rhodes is on Air America
by differnetEllen
And she said it in a OpEd she wrote. Well, MSNBC had annointed Obama about 5 months ago. Olbermann just jumped on board Matthew's bandwagon.

I didn't know that anyone listened to Air America.

Ken Rudin's comment was about the state of Clinton's campaign: "She's going to keep coming back, and they're not going to stop her."

I didn't find it particularly offensive, but then again, I don't think the "baby mama" stuff is awful, either. Its a hot button, but Fox News runs about 10 things per hour that I find more offensive (namely their blithe disregard for human suffering, amongst other things).

Its just a shame that this is getting blown up so much. If we make like Fox News is the tooth fairy, then it would be even less of a deal.

me too!!

how come no one spoke when McCain called his wife a painted trollop and a cunt?

later he excused it (no apology) by saying he'd had a long day...probably had a long day when he dumped his 1st wife for the barbie doll he has now!

can you believe any woman would vote for this sexist freaking pig?

people really watch fox? i thought that was just a nasty rumor...

Juswaitin -

Fox isn't worth watching or listening to - as far as McCain, terrible husband (man) to speak this way about his wife and vulgar language - hard to imagine someone in public office speaking this way - you would think it would matter to more women (voters).

I was stunned that it didn't
by Thevail

seem to matter to more women. But almost more surprised thatit didn't just freak everyone out in general.

I mean, what kind of antique, Archie Bunker reject says something like that to ANYONE, or to any woman, much less his to wife in front of a reporter.

I mean, this doesn't speak too highly of his respect for women, or his connection with modern society.

When was the last time it was even nominally acceptable for a man to treat his wife that way. What, like, the early sixties?

Isn't that sort of thing the very disrespect that CAUSED feminists to set their underwear on fire in the first place?
