I'm not a McCain supporter, but all this mumbo-jumbo about the aging brain should not be used to stereotype those of us who are authentic senior citizens. I'm 76 and generally finish the NY Times and Washington Post Sunday crossword puzzles in one sitting...and I NEVER resort to looking anything up...not even the pop-culture stuff. That, in my opinion, would be cheating. The truth is that people age differently. I have played poker with an 86-year-old gentleman who is a helluva lot sharper than our 40-year-old buddies around the table.

That's probably because the 40 year olds did more drugs than the 86er.

The article wasn't stereotyping. I will grant that some people may use information found in articles like this one to stereotype older individuals, but that stems from poor information processing on their parts rather than a poorly written article.

The article would have been stereotyping had it suggested that all or the vast majority of the elderly experienced all of these mental problems. This article, however, did not do this. Rather, it pointed out a variety of mental issues that do, in fact, afflict the elderly in far greater numbers than younger individuals. But that does not in any way imply that these problems afflict a majority of the elderly or that anyone who lives to be 80 or 90 will get all these problems. You can't deny that their is significant evidence to back up the article's claims; elderly people do often experience mental difficulties. Although I'm young myself, I have undergone the pain of witnessing several grandparents and other older relatives undergo mental decline, though I have met plenty of older people who remain just as sharp as anybody else.

Yes, I'd hate to have a person as president who isn't wet behind the ears and needs his diaper changed, stinky! No respect for thier elders and the ancients. Obama can have all the leaders of the Islamic world to join him, he'll even buy all the world a coke, and we'll all join in singing a perfect world of peace and harmony. It might be a good thing if he wins, though. We can trade in our gas gusslin' autos in for a used camel down at Ahabs used camel lot. Hey, my camel gets 250 miles per 1 gallon of water. Can't beat that. Better that a Hydrogen cell, or HHO.

Seriously, I'm anti-Jihadist, I don't like people that lay in wait and kill the innocent, the unarmed, in or for the name of any cause. Race, creed or theology isn't an issue. I take it personally when you point an AK-47 in my direction, or a rocket launcher, etc. People have the right to worship as they see fit, as long as it doesn't infringe upon anothers right to do the same.

I support Obama because I too think everyone has a right to worship as they please so long as they don't force others to thir views. Thats what the GOP have been all about these last 20 years (forcing their views down the throats of others).

I don't think age is the issue per se; I think the issue is, do McCain's early brain injuries (while boxing, during his crash in the war, and while being held and tortured) mean that he will undergo dementia sooner than he would have otherwise? Will his dementia be prodound and severe, like the dementia of many boxers?

He is (and always was) a highly intelligent person - more intelligent than 99% of the population, I would presume. But will the numerous instances of brain injury result in the early onset (for his genetics) of age-related thinking disorders and mental deterioration?

That's the question I'd ask.

They are not talking about getting along with others who might simply disagree with us. Germany declared war on the United States immediately after the Japanese attack on our forces. It was an official declaration by a sovereign nation against us. It was after Germany's declaration of war against us that we ended our stance of neutrality against those fascist murderers. A stance of neutrality that GWBs grand daddy made millions from.
