I think unless you absolutely need 3G for your buisness, dont buy the new 3G Iphone, its a rip-off with the 2 year lock in AAT contract. I dont use edge, I use wifi Im very happy with my unlocked iphone running 1.3 firmrare. & a ten cent a minute tmobile sim. This edge phone will become a cult classic & other useful apps will be devloped by the hacker community & maybe someone will port linux for it making it even more useful. who says you have to be stuck with Apple & their OS & apps. Think Different, dont be a smoe with an open wallet!

I think many, many people would disagree with you and prefer to have the faster speed and GPS. Wifi signals are only available in certain spots and usually require passwords. People want fast data access everywhere -- walking down the street, in the car, at the store, etc.
