Go ahead and vote for McCain

I was once a disappointed supporter of Mo Udall and of Gary Hart and of Bob Kerry and of Howard Dean and I never once expected that the nominee had to suck up to me for my vote. I was supposed to compare the two major party nominees, decide who was better on the issues and/or character and/or whatever other criteria I might use to make voting decisions. Then, I would support that candidate...or I could stay home or vote for a candidate who didn't have a chance to win. If you have hurt feelings or your child was called a bad name by some idiot supporters of a candidate and you use those as your criteria, well, it is a free country, after all. But, don't be surprised if President McCain puts another Scalia-clone judge on the Supreme Court and when we still have troops in Iraq or go to war with Iran during his tenure; when McCain has to reinstitute the draft to provide enough soldiers to fight three wars, explain to your son that going into the Army and occupying Tehran is really much better than having his felings hurt.

whats your view on drafting women?

Um, it's a political non-starter?
Re: Go ahead and vote for McCain
by oicuateonetwo
why do you think that is?

Drafting ANYONE is a political nonstarter. Like the chickenhawk politicians, the remaining citizens who still support the war (and who are not already in the military or have loved ones in the military) do so only under the condition that it doesn't inconvenience them in the slightest.

Amen. Had Hillary, Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Kusinich (ad naseum) won, I would have cheerfully marked the "D" column.

why do you think its political suicide to include females in the draft and combat? whos against it?

A draft is political suicide period.

We should have to take a national vote before going to war. If you check the yes box, you are registered in the draft...

Unless we or an ally is attacked, then you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

Nope, many of us are going ahead & voting ...

for Senator Hillary Clinton, actually.

Write-in vote. And if you think you can blame Senator Obama's loss in November on the Clinton supporters or on Sen. Clinton herself, well -- you should have thought of that these past six months while so many of you were SO busy trashing the "older white women," "Appalachian Rednecks," "working class white men" the "under-educated" and every other category of people repulsed by the phony inexpeirenced elitist candiate, "Senator Obama."

P.S. You seem to have terrible taste in Dem. candidates, at least as far as winners go! Your far left Liberal choice in candidates is echoed, of course, in the DNC's crooked choice of the single most Liberal Senator in the US Senate -- a position that will lead to his defeat in Nov. Gary Hart is probably the only one of those you list here who had an actual shot at being elected POTUS.

Btw, I am NOT the "Real" Speaker Nancy (Pelosi), either.

:-)

Not the real Nancy Pelosi-no kidding!

While your at it be sure to write in three new right wing supreme court nominees too!

so, your either afraid to give the REAL reason its political suicide, or you simply don't care..guess i wouldn't care either if it didn't include me...

It seems that just as many were repulsed by Hillary. You of course can see nothing wrong in anything she has said or done but others could not believe the campaign she ran and the many personalities she adopted.

What makes someone elitist? All those in DC are elitists....rich, out of touch and most have never known poverty. Bill and Hillary do not hang out with the waitress that works the night shift, the guy who just lost his job at the factory, the family that lost everything due to an uninsured illness. And if she was such a champion of the down and out and the unfair treatment of women, where are her Senate bills addressing these issues?

Anyone who claims to be a democrat, yet votes for McCain or stays home or writes-in someone else, is not a democrat, real or otherwise. You either believe in the party platform or you don't. And if you don't - then get the hell out of the party and join another one. It's ok to upset that your candidate lost, be bitter, be mad and disappointed, just don't be irresponsible like some child who takes their ball and goes home because they don't like how the game is going.

I have no idea what you are talking about?
You are flat-out wrong...& a dictator, too.
by SpeakerNancy

if you say that I am not a Democrat. And just who the heck are YOU, what are your credentials to dare to tell me so?

I have posted many times that I am a lifelong Dem. voter & I will NOT be dictated to, about how to vote, by a bunch of 30 year old newcomers to the political process, OK? Nor will I be dictated to by a bunch of corrupt fixers named Howard Dean and Donna Brazile, OK? You do not get to tell ME I'm not a Democrat, Mr. Blue S., got that? I'm a lifelong Dem. voter, activist, press secretary & political employee of a swing state for several years -- and I bet you have now voted in what, three elections?

Last reply to you on the topic; it is a waste of cyberspace & characters, not to mention my time.
Btw, your lines read right out of the Obama-net playbook, do you ALL have to use the exact same language? Do NONE of you have any imagination or creativity? None at all? It's mind-boggling. My write-in decision is one of PRINCIPLE, probably a new concept to you -- "You either believe in the party platform or you don't." HORSEPUCKY.

Grow up, vote in a few more elections & get active in more than ten of them -- and THEN you can try to tell me how to behave. Last, don't you cretins realize that the more you try to dictate to other voters, the more you turn them off? Good grief, it's basic Human Nature 101.
