Ethanol rip off!
by ubyy

I would suggest everyone check the gas milage difference between ethanol and real gas. We are getting 20.65 mpg in our caravan using non-ethanol gas and 16.48 using the ethanol. Since it is 10% ethanol, and I am loosing 16% in milage when using it, am I really using less oil?

You can include in that the fact that corn prices have soared along with anything made from or that eats corn. We are getting raped for nothing at all. It is like pumping two gallons of air into your tank for the lovely price of $3.79 per gallon+.

Because it takes 25% more ethanol to go the same distances as gasoline. I have raced ethanol powered cars for years and it takes twice the fuel to go fast as it does gasoline powered ones. But the return is the motor runs cooler so less smog coming out and it makes the motor last longer to because of running at lower temps.

The longer lasting engine argument does not justify the outrageous waste and inefficiency involved in the fleecing of the American taxpayer. The ethanol subsidy is a scam that helps no one except the corn lobby and big refiners like ADM and Cargill. It's not simply a rip off because of fuel inefficiency it's a rip off because it takes far more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol from corn than it does from many other alternative sources. The added widespread damage from the meteoric rise in corn and other grains make it a fraud of the first magnitude. It's simply a case of runaway greed and self serving hypocrisy operating with the help of the US congress at the expense of the vast majority of citizens. It is an ongoing daily assault on our resources and the future of the country.
