McCain's feminist credentials
by abfish

Can someone clarify for me how voting for a man who abandoned his first wife after she gained a limp (from a car accident) and some weight (from the decreased mobility) in any way advances the cause?

And that's ignoring abortion, fair pay, the war, health care, the economy, and just about every other substantive issue.

can have political ideals that are significantly different. I see. So, we can now say that because Obama attended what amounts to a racist church, he must be racist. I mean, he attended a church for 20 years that certainly has this mentality. So, he must hold those same beliefs in his politics right.

I don't like McCain for a lot of reasons, but his ex-wife seems okay with this. Of course, Obama can't be held accountable for attending a church for 20 years - only ending his association with it a few weeks ago, when it became too politically damaging. Hey, can you get a whole church under a bus?

so, differnetEllen: you're obviously PO'ed with Obama for the Reverend Wright thing (whose views seem to be more anti-government than anti-white, BTW), but you're willing to overlook McCain for flip-flopping on "agent of intolerance" Jerry Fallwell enough to speak at his university - and seeking out an endorsement from Hagee, then dropping it whent hings got too hot.

Obama is half-white, remember - so he would have to have some serious self-loathing going on to be anti-white (and the people working with him - a lot of whom are hardworking white people - would sense this, don't you think?).

Look at the policies the two candidates are adviocating. Which one is closest to where you stand. Vote accordingly.

"advocating"...sorry.
I'm not pissed at Obama.

I am pissed at Howard Dean and Donna Brazile. But really, if you are going to use stuff like someone's personal life, be consistant. You can't use crap like that and then complain when the other side uses crap against your candidate.

I have the luxury of living in Massachusetts. I'm writing in Clinton. You see, until Dean and Brazile are gone from the DNC, I no longer consider myself a Dem. I know where my electors are going, so I'm not all that fussed.

You have the luxury of living in Massachusetts - I have the misfortune of being a Michigan voter who was told his vote would not count in the primary...so I stayed home. To change the rules after she'd signed on for them (as HRC did) was cheating me, and I was plenty peeved at HRC for doing this. Still, I vote in a swing state - and you'd better believe I'd have voted for Clinton if she were the Dem nominee. After Jocelyn Elders and Lani Guinier - two black women that feminists didn't care about Bill Clinton abandoning during his presidencies - I still would have voted for her.

Because America doesn't have the luxury of being able to endure another Republican presidency.

GO Michigan!

Sorry, I had a friend who went to college there and used to say that at every football game..even when Michigan wasn't playing..

And I am glad to hear someone finally bring up the point that the voters in Mich. and Florida were cheated by the rules changes that punished them and made them think that their votes wouldn't count so they didn't turn out, but them made a huge deal about not disenfranchising the voters (who did decide to go anyway)...honestly some of the wierdest double standard ever.
