Narcissism as the universal window...
by oxboggle
Want to know what poor Roumanian kids are thinking? Want to know how they'll do in school? Just ask yourself. "what would I do? What is there in my experience that translates into an answer to this question?"

Because, you know, the life-experiences of your average suburban American childhood are pretty much universal in their implications, aren't they?

You may ask yourself, "How did I get here?" You may ask yourself, "Where is my large automobile?"

Sorry, couldn't be helped.

But really, folks, could we try to be a bit more open to the experiences of the Other and not such a bunch of screaming narcissists? The Global Village dies not mean that we're all from the same suburb and kids everywhere are pretty much like the kid you remember being.
