Disgusting sentence of the day:
by the ghost of a-z

From wikipedia: "In 2007 Sendler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, but the award was presented to Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change."

Game:

List a bunch of -isms. E.g., sexism, racism, overweightism, classism, heterosexism, etc Probably helpful if all framed as kinda discrete. Think of the characteristics that render the -ism useful to people and then order isms by how slowly those characteristics change (increasing rate of change).

My list (quite possible to have a different order than mine) for those above might be:

Sexism

heterosexism

racism

classism

overweightism

If you believe gender is purely a social construct, you might put sex very last, for example, instead of first.

— ISMS Every -Ism is its own contradiction, its own reductio ad absurdum. Every -Ism violates the lex parsimoniae, or Occam's Razor, and thereby remains an asymptote only to its own praxis axis, ie, it becomes a complete corruption of thought and language, but never of action: -Isms make praxis impossible. They seek to break or fragment it into dialectics, or mere language functions, but ultimately the causes of all value [efficient, material, formal and final] are opposed by -Isms: cf Marx's Grundisse. -Isms are the crutches of those who refuse to walk, and then find they cannot or forget how to walk. They are the hiding places of inauthenticity, deceit, falsehood and inaction. -Isms are the logocentric fetish of every ideologue who can no longer live in peace, or otherwise, with themselves first, their own kind second, their opposites third, and life last, always as a last resort. -Isms are the charms and coda of all sophisms, that is to say, eristic sleights of the mind that only dupe the -Ists themselves. -Isms are the limbo dance whose bar is the earth itself, or the ground beneath one's feet. Then, is it not best to bury them entirely, and to recognize that everything must evade absolute identity? Even God [Deus] once converted into Deism or Pantheism is no longer God, and surely if we can assert that God =/= God, then what hope is there for the poor mortal -Ist who seeks out like-minded -Ists?

I might put religious fanaticism beneath fascism if given a second chance.

My fault, as usual, since your list is what people usually mean by reffing an "ism". Instead of a system of thought, I meant a prejudice.

For example, "sexism" groups people by gender and assumes characteristics on that basis. This is pretty useful sometimes - so useful we don't even call it sexism (for example, it's not considered sexist to filter by gender before obtaining one's sexual partners). Racism, one might think reflects tribal divisions. If one followed that mindset, one would class sexism above racism on my list (since tribal characteristics change more rapidly than sexual characteristics). As systems of thought, your isms provide a struture to most things, my isms included ('ism' after here, meaning of my type). A Marxist, for example, (I don't recall if that was specifically on your list, but along yourl line of thinking). might see almost everything as subordinate to classisms and so class would be the slowest changing of isms (because any ism which doesn't change keeps that piece of classism unchanged). A Fascist might would make nationalism fundamental, perhaps (national-ism, an ism of my sort too). I would say Nazis conflast race and state, which combines to form their fundamental ism (of my sort), with everything else subordinate (except, perhaps, gender, running in parallel).

Anti-Americanism
by Urquhart

Sort of the point of the Nobel Committee, so the other -isms fade into insignificance. Jealousy, of course, and we're pleased to know that we still rate as an object of that.

l think that rates as a prejudicial ism by your criteria.

Who believes gender is a purely social construct? Are there such people? Hey. You. Yeah, you. Check yer drawers.

There. That's settled.

Right. The Nazis were racists, fascists are extremely nationalistic (which often means ethnocentric), communists are classists, capitalists have systems that are arguably more fluid but are also classist. Religious fanatics are wild cards because depending on the underlying religion they could be racist, ethnocentric, anti-outsider but open to converts with no barriers to conversion, or completely uninterested in other people.

In your case ...

... provincialism.

Sexism, conservativism (as hatred of change - and can be found in sexism and racism), racism, anti-truthism (beats overweightism!)

Are you conflating biological sex and gender (social roles)?

And why is the sentence disgusting? What does it imply? I'm missing it.

First, ismism.
