Exterior pure & simple

Lets face it folks, if Obama was a whiteman with the same credentials or lack-there-of, he would have been long gone campaign-wise.

Now maybe Obama will make a good president maybe he won't; but the bottom line is people in this country worry too much about petty nonsense like exterior appearances instead of what is beneath it all. Sad to say, but you could sell an empty box or one full of dung to most people in this country if you wrapped it up in pretty & popular colors.

Unfortunately when you state this fact to people they automatically call you a racist or bigot. Personally I think Collen Powell would have made a great president when he was considering running for office. The man had loads of experience in the international arena which these days is a must. Plus he was a combat veteran who understood how to utilize the armed forces wisely. Its unfortunate though that he got entangled with the bush regime. Well thats all water under the bridge.

The point here is that most voters these days just don't seem to educate themselves on the candidates they vote for and the candidates and their drumbeaters know it.

Too bad that the qualifications to be a president in this country are lacking. Leadership & management positions in both the non-political civilian and military realm require more.

and we shrink from our responsibility in the process. Everybody loses. It's as if we're a nation sleep walking; incapable of waking up and helping ourselves.
I am not a Republican.

As reckless as I believe it is to nominate Obama, McCain could be far worse. I don't have any good suggestions. My candidate dropped out early. I would suggest that all those who are in love with Obama treat him openly like a new husband but never let him out of their sight for an instant.

Perhaps it's not Obama's packaging at all. Perhaps it's a backlash against old-school oil barons and an executive that thinks it has unlimited power.

Obama may be naive and inexperienced but perhaps he simply can't do any worse than than America's CEO has.

Perhaps people would rather have someone who just screws up rather than some who screws everyone.

Perhaps people are just plain embarrassed by a president who doesn't know what the price of gas is and can't manage a single sentence without mangling it.

John McCain is experienced but as another poster noted his military experience didn't seem to matter when Shinseki was crucified for pointing out securing Iraq would need hundreds of thousands of troops.

Bill Richardson has lots of experience, but I live in New Mexico and believe me he says one thing and does another.

Perhaps many people feel that they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Don't be so sure that Americans are just buying an empty box. They thought they bought a box full of goodies eight years ago and look what happened.
