Hey, folks. I'm having persistent problems coming from this Fray. So, in case it isn't clear:

Ratings and tags are tools, not toys. Inappropriate use of either one may lead to erasure of the post and perhaps suspension of your account.

If you intend to use tags, they should be short and descriptive of your post's content. You should not use tags to flame other posters, mark your own work, or for the joy of seeing cute expressions in the tag cloud.

Pray tell, what is an inappropriate us of a rating such as may lead to being flushed or banned?

"Fuck Off, You Asshole" as a Tag, and then downrate it just for balance?

I'm with you. I understand the warning but don't have a good handle on the guidelines. Perhaps that is because I don't partake in that kind of game-playing.

Generally, one should avoid sending him an email. That paints a big target..Other than that, just duck for random squalls when he gets his panties in a bunch.. There's really no standard.

Using ranking to conduct polls.

Gang-ranking entries in a flame war.

Using sockpuppet swarms to boost a crap post onto the front page.

Further stuff of that ilk.

If I were of a mind to antagonize the zookeepers, I would perhaps inquire as well why they allowed a truly ridiculous situation to go on unabated at Faith Based for quite some time and yet plop a mighty officious-looking "Announcement" on the sidewalk here in regards to something that too all appearances is 99% harmless hijinx. I might further suggest that the urge to crack down on harmless hijinx in an online readers' discussion forum does make one think that powers are being wielded simply because they exist and they intoxicate. I might be driven to cuss and contumely.

I'm not, mind you.

So, what is rating's abuse. Is that where a clique of like minded Fraysters either downrate or uprate a top post as a group because they either dislike or like the poster?

Or is it where the [let us say] unjustly downrated poster simply redresses a wrong by uprating his or her own top post amidst a sea of wrongly issued negative ratings?

Face it moron, the ratings system is stupid and plenty of intelligent and experienced Fraysters advised you and Adam of this years ago now. Of course it is going to be abused. Wake up and smell reality brewing.

there was a "free Urq" post asking everyone to vote him back or not by using the rate this post. I think it got flushed & started this.
