dear crabby - refuses to parody these letters

refusing to pray for a dying child? reneging on a long awaited gift for a child?

its all too depressing, and inappropriate for parody

crabby is a single mommy, and her heart goes out to others who have heartbreaking kid problems.

enjoy your week off from my insouciance -

and prudie - would please get back to the really stupid letters? those are the ones we love.

Dear FSM http://www.venganza.org/ Please save this child?

I find it sad that someone would use their child's illness as an excuse to shove their religion onto a clearly compassionate friend who sees things differently.

very sad indeed.

it doesnt sound like they are close friends: "my boss's mother", if they were friends then wouldnt she say "close friend". She probably didnt know that the writer was an atheist

You know what that means!

I planted about three dozen impatiens for my mother this past weekend. We celebrated Mom's birthday and I got to play with my niece's two month old son. (take that, Prudie and Slate!) I am not going to say or write anything negative or humiliating about that child. (take that, too, Slate!)

This afternoon I attended a really bad seminar. I'd enter it in a Monty Python bad seminar contest if there were such a thing, or maybe let Scott Adams use it in a Dilbert cartoon. Even Catbert would admire the sheer contrariness of trying to make ethical decisions more complex and difficult than they are naturally.

Someone

who doesn't know you very well offers you sympathy and support. And in your arrogance, you feel it is ok to lecture them on religion.

what kind of person does that?

Oh yeah, one who believes in invisible sky beings.

Outrageous.

~~~~Oh yes, it's actually great that my child is dying, this is just the bestest thing ever! Now I finally have an oppurtunity to hassle people about god. I truly am blessed.~~~~
I am not a christian, in fact, I am not a deist or theist of any sort. I believe in energy, in molecules, in waves such as radio and micro, and forces such as magnetic and gravity. So be assured I am not one of these people who "believes in invisible sky beings" (other than, of course, the aforementioned energy, molecules, waves, and forces.)
However, if you think that a mother uses their childs possible death as an excuse to preach, then you're delusions are far grander than those of even the most fundamental of evangelicals.
Try not to sound like you just graduated from "Intro To Atheism" last week.
I was sorta hoping you'd
make the Duran Duran "Don't say a prayer for me now" reference I've been waiting to see. Not sure who to turn to for that now...
