Hillary's final shot to the foot

As both David Brooks and Mark Shields pointed out last night, Hillary has now made it quite impossible for BHO to ask her to be VP.
It was not just her ungracious behavior or her Blanche DuBois-like denial of reality Tuesday night that did her in, but that she was so transparent in "wanting" to be VP, that it became a dare - with the implicit threat that she will break all the dishes and wreck the house if she doesn't get her way.
As Shields and Brooks pointed out, there is no way that kind of behavior could be tolerated by either the nominee or by an actual president (or at least one who is not her husband).
And, of course, she doesn't "want" to be VP (she already had that job). She still really, really only wants to be POTUS - and it just happens that being the VP pick would be the next best means to that end. I.e., if Barack loses, she would be able to take the "I-told-you-so" route in 2012, and if he wins, either the unthinkable could happen - or if she survives being #2 for 8 years, she'll have another chance.
We all knew that Hillary has been thru a lot (Bill has probably hurt her more than anyone), and we've both admired her and cut her some slack. But now she appears to have been pushed to the edge of a pathetic breakdown. It's a sad story, and especially painful to have it played out in public. I feel genuinely sorry for her now, but I will also give her credit if she can get a grip, bounce back and go thru the motions.
