The upside of a Obama candidacy
by differnetEllen

I took the time last night to read foreign press last night and I will say that foreigners are very enthusiastic about his candidacy. I think he could do a lot to reassure other countries that there has been a sea-change in our relationship to the rest of the world.

The only problem here is that Obama would be the President of the USA and that's who is going to do the voting. I won't be voting for him, but then I won't be voting against him.

I have been reading the boards
by scully
from the local paper and many here in Ohio think Obama is a racist. I don't know what to think. He had to hear the crap coming from the pulpit of his church, and he let his kids hear it too.

Partial list of enthusiastic foreigners:

Manuel Noriega

Hamas

Hugo Chavez

Los Hermanos Castro

Yes, Obama can make us liked by our traditional enemies. All it takes is a good "talking to" and everyting will be peachy.

Let us not forget that "foreigners" includes LIBERAL EUROPE. Their very sovereignty is threatened by Muslims and Liberal Philosophy.

We all know that the rough, tough bully ways of Bush have done nothing to make the world respect us....in fact quite the oppositie. The damage has been phenomoal, and will require a great deal of hard work, and a lot of precious time, to rapair the damage done.

Reaching out to others is one of Obama's strongest points...he is NOT a war monger, nor is he a bully.

I commend you on your stand not to vote against him, and it is your choice, as everyone in this country, to vote, or not to vote.

It is my sincere hope though, that you will later decide to join in the crusade for the effort to reinstate our beloved country's standin in the rest of the world, while working to get our economy, and what affects us here at home, back on track.

How we are viewed in the rest of the world, does indeed have an impact and effect on the economy, right here at home.

When we are viewed with distrust, and other countries lose confidence IN us, then the trickle down effect from that, carries some impact.

This may very well be the one chance we have to try and right a tilting ship....and if we blow it? Then heaven help us. It may not work, but there is a 50/50 chance it will, and those are the best odds we've had in almost 8 years.

Lets go for it.

I was very disturbed by his comments
by differnetEllen

yesterday about Tony Rezko. He said it wasn't the Tony Rezko he knew. Well, he's said the same things about Rev.Wright and Pfleger. I think this brings his judgement into question. He needs to stop saying these things.

The racist stuff is going to dog him. I'm also concerned about his affliation with the Rev. Willie Barrow, who is on his advisory committee. She's another associate of Farrahkan. She's said some pretty dicey things too. I'm pretty darn sure that the Republicans are investigating her too, but if I was a Republican strategist, I would be holding that back until just AFTER the convention.

It is indeed an upside, Ellen, because it will ensure his defeat in November.

Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro have all endorsed Obama.

When Dean and Brazile are gone

from the DNC then I would vote for Obama. You really aren't getting this are you?! I'm not against Obama; I'm against how the misogyny of the Dems played out and how the leadership played games.

Give it up, Looney; this thread isn't about GWBush, its over you head already. Go start you own "I hate Bush thread".

lol

Or, another "I hate Jews" thread.

Right up until the "whitey" video

surfaces.

Say in October?

Nope, holding up until after the

ballots are printed and it is too late to change them.

What the hell are you being hysterical about now?

We aren't talking about the supposed "whitey" tape. We are talking about Obama and foreign policy?!

Ellen....why do you refuse to acknowledge that Hillary wasn't a BIT PLAYER in how things have been done? Take Ickes...her man and one who came up with the rules (I'm sure he consulted with Hillary as well) and voted FOR them, as well as Hillary voting to abide by them.

That makes them just as big of players, as anyone else.

Everyone, has catered to Hillary...while Obama has had to fight his Wright problem...she has gotten her way, ALL of the way. Se was given consideration and more space than anyone else would have been given....yet when the health of the party is at risk, she wouldn't do the right thing, concedig and congratulating Obama. As I said before, there is only ONE ACTUAL WINNER in any contest. In this case, it was Obama. Don't blame it on Dean...There was a time and a place, and she STILL stubbornly refused to give up what her and Bill have BOTH said, time and again...that the nomination was OWED to her. By whom? The truth is that both she AND Bill, are responsible for what has happened up to this point...and I find it hard to believe that you would use OBAMA (by not voting for him) to take out your frustrations about other people.

That would be like punishing one of your own children, for something you knew damned good and well he had NOTHING to do with.

And you are a teacher, right?

I would have given you more credit at other times, but I find it hard to give you any now, though I tried with my post above.

Your misplaced punishment tells me that something is bad wrong with your decision.

But that is your option, though it doesn't speak for an exceptional degree of intelligence.

I'm sorry for you.

Had Hillary won, I would have already directed my aim toward McCain and what she would have to do, to beat him.

My country comes FIRST with me, and I'll never move past doing what I think is best for it, but not to the point of sacrificing an innocent for stubborness.

"The upside of an Obama Candacy".

I might agree that what you present might be an "upside" in your or their opinion....

However, the minute that video surfaces....

there is going to be a "downside" that will be just horrible.

Racial gains in harmony we have had over decades could be washed away in mere moments.
