Toxic? No WAY!

I agree with the 4 on reviewers regarding a few points--like how materialistic the movie was ( eg--Carrie giving her assistant a Louis Vuitton bag). And I am surprised no one mentioned Miranda's horrid comment about following the white guy with the baby in Chinatown--that was uncalled for.

However, I strongly disagree that the friendships are toxic. They just realistically showed that NO friendships are perfect and no person is perfect. But overall, what they all did for Carrie was really touching and impressive. Also, I thought Big was being a Big Baby. So she got overly enthusiastic with the wedding. I agree it was silly, but by no means did that justify him not showing up. And I hope my friends would laugh at me if I crapped my pants! I would deserve it after only eating chocolate pudding for a week.

Agreed on the weirdness and the offensiveness of Miranda following the white guy in Chinatown. WHAT THE F&%* was THAT????

I didn't know whether to be completely put off as someone who is not white, or to laugh at its totally honest depiction of the attitudes behind gentrification and certain white people's love of "diversity."

Haven't seen the movie yet but wanted to thank you for the checkmark for my Top Post on this topic. Am really looking forward to the movie and hope to have a nice relaxing FUN time, and the heck with all the serious discussions. As for all this talk about the movie should have focused more on their (and Mr. Big's) WORK life, oh horsepucky! We do that all day long, right? When we go to the movies (unless it's to see a serious "capital S" SERIOUS foreign film, or similar to that), we want to get away from work, right? Although I wouldn't mind seeing a good movie about women at work -- there are certainly plenty of examples on TV these days. Even the sometimes silly evening sitcom "Brothers & Sisters" focuses quite a bit on work-related issues as does "Men In Trees."
Horsepucky indeed!

Work, pfffh.

I know a lot of people like The Office, but that's exactly why I can't watch that show. After entire days spent under fluorescent lights, it pains me too much to have to look at the same thing on tv.

Bring on the frivolity!

I'm sure you'll looooove the movie. I might go again this weekend.
