hillary clinton's run for president
by humblehound
I think Hillary should declare her self an Independent democrat and continue her run for president. She has most of the popular vote, and from the people I've heard say they wouldn't vote if it were between McCain and Obama. I think she could win. What are the feelings out there tonight?

She is strong enough to throw the election into the House.

If Hillary became an independent democrat or independent anything...it might make the election worth watching. Vegas would probably give even odds for both Clinton and McCain as the next president. Obama would get 3:1

Hillary should grow up, endorse Obama, and show some class and dignity. In her speech tonight, she sounded like a raving lunatic.

Humblehound...

First of all if HRC runs as an independent she would split the democratic vote to the extent that McBush would win in a landslide. And she does NOT have most of the popular vote.

It is obvious you have been spoon fed her spin and believe it.

It's already split. Ask a Hillary supporter.

And she does NOT have most of the popular vote.

She does, if you include FL and MI. Last time I checked they were still Americans, no matter how much the DNC unfairly devalues their votes. The superdelegates have defied the will of their constituents and have handed Obama an unearned nomination.

It is obvious you have been spoon fed her spin and believe it.

Apparently you've dined on someone's elses spin yourself.

She does if you include FL and MI (and assume nobody in MI wanted Obama, which seems unlikely) and decide that the caucus states represent no votes. All this rah rah about respecting the MI/FL voters is meaningless - the states' parties broke the rules knowing the penalties, it's their fault, not Obama or the DNC's fault, that they jeopardized their delegates. They wanted to make their voters more important than those of others by moving the primary forward, and they are paying the price.

As someone who has been eager to vote for either candidate throughout, I fervently hope the Hillary supporters can understand that the MI/FL thing was unfortunate, but it was the first time I thought "Hillary is actively hurting the party's chances now." She has hurt Obama in two important states by trying to change rules of the game she herself had signed on to and trying to paint herself as championing a rigged voting process as the will of the people.

This election is too important hand to McCain based on things that don't matter, and Obama and Hillary's actual policy differences are small. I hope Hillary supporters will realize this by the election.

Verlaine - I agree 100%. She spent 20 minutes saying nothing at all.

No, she wouldn't win.

Too many democrats are wedded to the Party itself. But what she would do is instantly guarantee that McCain became president because she WOULD take about twenty percent of the Democratic Party with her in her departure. Without Hillary supporters Obama cannot win.

You are making the assumption that Republican voters will come out to support McCain. I'm not sure that is a safe assumption. The evangelicals hate him, I suspect they will not vote.
Not at all. I know that McCain
by Gatewood
has serious problems with most of his conservative base. But a dramatic splitting of the Democratic Party would energize them sufficiently to propel him into the Oval Office.

Yeah, that worked so well for Teddy Roosevelt didn't it? I think he actually may have topped Taft, but it gave the election to Wilson (not that that was a bad thing, unless you were a Republican).

How much did Ralph Nader permanently tarnish his reputation by siphoning off a measley 3% of the vote in his vainglorious campaign?

If Hillary trashes the party, her political career is finished.

this is Humblehound. To all who responded thanks, At least there are people out in the nation who are still thinking. One thing, I didn't say she had all the popular vote. I said she had the most of it. And I don't nor did I ever think of Teddy Roosevelt, when making my arguement for her to continue. I think she's a much more viable canidate than him. And after suffering thru the boom of the '90's with it's immoralities. Then to go thru ^W's^ moral white house and cabinets.I think I'd choose another Clinton . But Whatever happens keep the faith We can make it .Just drink a lot of water and walk real slow. I know there are some mis spellings but y'all get the meanings.
