The few people that usually post here have already established that the dresses in the movie were either pretentious or icky. Glad that's out of the way. Heaven knows, the garb of a single fictional character can make a difference...it did when the show was airing. Now? Not so much.

I don't see anyone on Slate acknowleging the big news this week though; the death of Yves St. Laurent. Now THAT's someone that influenced not only the fashion world, but the rest of the clothes-buying public as well.

Let's see a slide show, Slate, or maybe even an article that more than skims the surface of what this remarkable, smart, talented man accomplished in his life. If, that is, there's a writer handy that can do a competent job. That article on the Oscars was...pitiful.
