Eco (non)stability in Honduras
by nickc

This article really describes to a T what's happening here in Honduras. Not just on the islands but on the main land too. I've been living here for over two years and coming here since 2002. There's so much beauty to be enjoyed here. But for how long will this beauty last? There is recycling being done here but on a very small scale. Garbage litters every single street and sadly most of the hill sides and river banks where there's any sign of life. I've been trying to figure out why they do this to their own country. I guess it's just a bad habit! The goal is to convince Hondurans that there's money to be made in conserving and protecting their lands and oceans. Every time there's garbage on a beach or large patches of jungle clear cut they are loosing more in the long run by loosing the ability to attract endless hoards of tourists. If they only knew what they had....what’s that saying “don’t know what you got till it’s gone”.
