Susan Sarandon: I'm Moving Away if McCain Wins

"Susan Sarandon is doing the rounds promoting her latest movie, Speed Racer. She found time to talk to the Telegraph" about the movie, her career, and U.S. politics:

"Her financial and vocal support for Barack Obama has not endeared her to some fellow Democrats."

"I've got a lot of flak from feminists who feel that I should be supporting Hillary Clinton, but I thought the whole point of feminism is that you're not supposed to be defined by gender," she says...

"Always busy, Sarandon is about to start work on the romantic period drama The Colossus, but with the presidential election campaign being heatedly contested, she also has bigger things to consider."

"If McCain gets in, it's going to be very, very dangerous," she says.

"It's a critical time, but I have faith in the American people. If they prove me wrong, I'll be checking out a move to Italy. Maybe Canada, I don't know. We're at an abyss."

"It's a valiant try by Ms. Sarandon, but the voters are unlikely to be fooled. We'll never know how many cast votes for George Bush in 2004, anticipating that Alec Baldwin, Robert Redford, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Moore, and many others would pack up and move to Canada. Alas, they failed to hold up their end of the deal." LMAO!!

"Tell me Ms. Sarandon: how do I know that if I vote for John McCain, you'll keep your promise?"

LOL! I think all of BHO’s supporters should be just like her, and while you’re up north, remember to send a big fat thank you back to the good old USA for providing you with the freedoms you have, god knows nobody in Canada is providing them!

I'm sure you are going to go right out an enlist. Then you will certainly volunteer for duty in Iraq until the war is over. Who cares what Sarandon or any other movie personality advocates? The critical issue is Iraq and how do we resolve it.

So be it if you prefer McCain/Clinton and you want to continue all of the current goevernment practices. That is you decision and you are free to vote for your preference.

I don't think Susan has much to worry about, McCain (and the Republican Party) will be badly beaten in November.

Hell, Susan could whip McCain this year.

It seems like every election cycle, we can count on a few Hollywood types to threaten they will move if a certain candidate looses. As if anyone cared, one way or the other. I am sure most candidates are happy to cash celebrity checks, but wish they would keep a low profile in the campaign. With few exeptions, most do more harm than good.

LOL! I have been on active duty for over 24 years and have been fully deployed 8 times. In fact, I am proud to say I was directly involved with saving over 15,000 Americans from Lebanon in 06. Not sure if you remember that, since it was one of the many good things the military does that you will NEVER see on NBC or MSNBC.

Oh and one last thing, as of April 08 every military service is either meeting or exceeding its enlistment goals, (see the link) <link> I wonder why? Maybe because there are more patriots in this country then you or the hacks at the Never Criticize Barack network give credit for. The one thing you said that did make sense is the fact that I do have the freedom to vote my preference in this country, a freedom ensured, and guaranteed by the men and woman serving in the armed forces.

I just hope Susan and her friends keep their word this time!

Well as a 22 year veteran (Air Force) and civil service (Air Force) for the last 6 years I can tell you that the troops in my office are not here for Bush, McCain or the RNC. Of those who have voiced an opinion only 1 has voiced approval of the current administration and that approval is due to his anti-choice stand not the war.

The rest are rooting for the democrats (both Obama and Hillary). And I have not heard anyone say they will switch to McCain if their candidate is not selected.

However, if the current (shall I say) lack of enthusiasm about the current deployment cycle is any indication of how they will vote, McCain is in deep trouble.

On the other hand, maybe it's because they're now taking anyone who can fog a mirror.

No, it's actually a program called "stop-loss" which isn't allowing the existing troops to leave the military at the end of their enlistments if they wish. Kind of like indentured servitude but with better pay and benefits.

Stop-loss wouldn't be required if the "WAR" was a just and holy cause. The troops would gladly stay in to protect and serve their county. That is not the case.
