WASHINGTON - Democratic party officials said a committee agreed Saturday on a compromise to seat Michigan and Florida delegates with half-votes after Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton failed to get enough support to force their positions through.

The committee agreed on a compromise offered by the Michigan Democratic Party that would allow Clinton to take 69 delegates and Obama 59. Each delegate would get half a vote at the convention in Denver this summer, according to the deal.

They also agreed to seat the Florida delegation based on the outcome of the January primary, with 105 pledged delegates for Clinton and 67 for Obama, but with each delegate getting half a vote as a penalty.

The resolution increased the number of delegates needed to clinch the nomination to 2,118, leaving Obama 66 delegates short but still within striking distance after the three final primaries are held in the next three days.

Harold Ickes and Tina Flournoy released this statement -

"We strongly object to the committee's decision to undercut its own rules in seating Michigan's delegates without reflecting the votes of the people of Michigan. The committee awarded to Senator Obama not only the delegates won by uncommitted, but four of the delegates won by Senator Clinton. This decision violates the bedrock principles of our democracy and our party".

It was a bizarre decision. Basically Obama gets all of Edwards' delegates plus some of Clinton's. It would make more sense, if a split had to be done, to have based it on pre-election polling or exit polls, which showed a wider split in favor of Clinton. But, of course, the real goal was to rubber stamp Obama's nomination, notwithstanding the will of the people of Michigan.

Those from the Clinton camp were the only ones that were trying to force anything different through the rules committee.

And by the way, that wasn't the rules committees decision as to how the delegates should be allocated. That was from the MDP committee, made up of Obama and Clinto supporters. The only one that voted against it was Joel Ferguson, and he thought Hillary should get alllllll the delegates.

All this whining and crying and name calling is pure bullshit, and makes your party look bad.

You should write childrens books, I just love how you fabricate. I've already posted the Detroit Free Press article on how the polls showed voter opinion, but you just continue to make up your own story.

Wahbooz, do try to grow up for a moment. I didn't see your Detroit Free Press article. I'm basing my polling comments on polls I linked to earlier. If the polls you're talking about indicate something different, I'm happy to take a look at them, but it's obnoxious and childish for you to claim I'm just making things up.

I listened to the entire day;s proceedings and had Arkady, he would have know that the Michigan Democratic Party came up with that divide. They've already used that format for allocatingdelegates. Neither candidate got everything they wanted although I have to say that the FL state legislative Hillary supporter clearly said, "I want it all!" Hillalry's supporters were the most disruptive and raucus crowd I've eveer seen

Watch and see--KFS is going to be a mess for the next week or more with the vitriol and anger, swearing the "establishment" has stolen the election from them, never mind that Hillary was the one supported by the "establishment". They can never accept that Hillary lost because of the way her campaign was run well, It has to be because of gender, racism, the media, and God knows what else. Better to do that than admit Obama won fair and square. They stried eveery tool they could find to try and shoot him down--his minister, his church, Rezko, he got all that money from nefarious, probably illegal sources--after all, someone HAS to be pouring all that money in to his campaign.

The excuses will go on and on but they'll deny Hillary's campaign was at fault.

Shirley, Arkady wouldn't listen to it because it would have gone against his fantasy.

Arkady, you have been fabricating all along, right along with SG and the rest. My suspect is you did not read mine for the same reason the other Clinton supporters didn't; it flew in the face of your assertions.

As for your making things up, you have been right along. Example, your extrapolation that had the Michigan primary been handled differently that Hillary would have won overwhelmingly. And you claimed you were 'doing the math'. Every 'assertion' that you tried to make flew in the face of everything that was being said in Michigan.

My suggestion is that you try to grow up for a change.

And by the way, incase you forget, I'm almost twice your age, and I've watched politics a hell of a lot longer than you.

Americans cannot accept a spoon fed candidate from Howard Dean.

America must soundly reject Obama and elect anybody else.

Obama is a liar, Howard Dean is a fanatic along the lines of the preachers at Obama's church.
