Robert Rauschenberg
by Robbin Geiger

I first met him while an apprentice at Gemini GEL in the early eightys. A very unforgetable person. Later at a party hosted by a gallery owner at thier house Robert approched me rubbing his hand togeather like he was trying to start a fire.He introduced me to a lady who spoke five languages. He was so likeable, smiling all the while making you feel like an old friend. He will be greatly missed. Thank you for all the eye candy!

West Coast meets East Coast. I first met Bob when I was an apprentice at Universal Limited Art Editions, ULAE, in the late 80s. I remember how my jaw dropped meeting in the flesh an artist I'd just studied about in art history class! He was so full of life and called everything the way he saw it. You can take the boy out of Texas, but you couldn't take the Texas out of the boy. I had to deliver something to his apartment and he let me play a game of ping pong. A large turtle was wondering around the place. He was quite the character. He will be missed.
