Update on Michigan Primary
by Wahbooz
Not Everyone Happy With New Primary Proposal

LANSING, Mich. -- A top Michigan Democrat has broken ranks with state party leaders, saying a plan to split the state's national convention delegates 69-59 between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama is "fatally flawed."

Democratic National Committee member Joel Ferguson sent a letter Thursday to the co-chairs of the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee seeking to seat all of Michigan's delegates based on the results of the disputed Jan. 15 election.

Clinton won; Obama was not on the ballot.

Failing that, he said, the pledged delegates should get a half-vote each, and superdelegates should get a full vote.

Ferguson is a superdelegate pledged to Clinton.

(What the article fails to say is he'd like to see Hillary get all the delegates, and Obama none.)

A message seeking comment was left Thursday afternoon with state Democratic Chairman Mark Brewer.

I think the whole primary system needs a good going over. We were talking about just this. here in SD our primary is June 3 and gee we pretty much know who is going to win by the time it gets here and the ones we really liked are gone. I feel the Primary should ALL vote the same day as the General Election does. This way it would be far more interesting and we all would have a chance to voice who we would like to run. The person I wanted is long gone and well I didn't even have a chance to vote for him. Oh well I felt I was left out in the cold. I am still undecided..... Read Dow's comment to my post about what I said about the 21 gun salute. What do you think? You were a honor guard. My friend DID have a 21 gun salute there were seven men and of course three shots each and they were rifles...... I counted them. Duh?? He was a career man Marine Core. Also when my former husbands father died he too had a 21 gun salute career man marine corps. I counted them I should know. geez these people are something else. oh well. I will miss him. he was such a nice man. Take care good night. LOLAnna

Anna,I agree with you on the primary. I have never seen such a mess of caucuses, primaaries and then caucus on top of primary, (Texas.)

Maybe I never paid enough attention as I was working but the Democrats deserve to lose, but that would put another Republican in and we cannot afford that.

The DNC has really put us up the creek without the proverbial paddle.

Some people get real picky, Anna. Yes, I read that lastnight, and thought how petty. Technically a 21 gun salute is what they did at Reagans funeral, one shot being fired from each howitzer until 21 of them are fired.

We always tried to have 7 riflemen to fire 3 volleys, for the funerals I participated in. It really was called 3 volleys, but it made the families feel good because their relative got a '21 gun salute'. It's still a salute to a fallen comrade, only picky people look for something asinine to say.

Thank You Wah, I knew I was right. They always pick on me anyway I should have expected this from them. geez. I know what I heard I counted them 21.... no more no less. funny how people are. I have gone to funerals with only 3 I should know the difference. and yes seven men. golly gee folks. I appreciate what you told me. They just want to trash my credibility is all, so very childish BUT what do you expect on this board? take care have a great weekend. I am. LOLAnna
