Clinton's electability and favorability
by Beathan

The most recent poll has CLinton's favorability ratings as:

29% favorable; 21% neutral; 50% favorable. In other words, in terms of favorability (but not unfavorability) she is polling worse than W (although it is a close thing).

Now, tell me again how exactly she can win a general election?

Also, this poll was taken before she tore open the RFK wound.

What I don't understand is why would the Clinton supporters threaten to bolt the DNC and go with McCain? How could McCain possibly better serve women, minorities and low income individuals? These people aren't really addressed in the Republican playbook, and haven't been for decades, if ever.

McCain would keep us in SW Asia (100 more years? or at least until 2010); probably expand into Iraq; his energy policy (gas tax credit, ha) is probably more in keeping with Bush then anything Obama would do; Roe v Wade (feminist litmus test) could be in jeopardy. How is McCain better positioned to deal with womens rights, affirmative action, immigration, drug policy, etc? National defense..maybe, but look at that dork Bush, they kept him in office for 8 years and he has done more damage then probably any sitting president. At least Obama would listen to the military leadership, not like our current imbecile in chief.

Obama isn't beholden to the oil industry or big business. He's not really a beltway insider (I consider that a plus). He's young, energetic, articulate and not afraid to think outside the box. I can guarantee that he is a better negotiator then McCain and isn't that what foreign policy basically is, negotiation? And it doesn't appear he has sold out to the Washington establishment (as of yet).

Hillary's on the board of Walmart for God sake!! Walmart has probably done more to destroy the economy of the US then any other business in US History (except maybe the robber barrons of the 1800's). Driving production to Asia that once was accomplished by the "uneducated, low-income, white" voters who support her. That is asinine!

He's a old, rich, white, male......but he did actually serve honorably in the military (refreshing). It really appears we will have more of the same under McCain. How does that better serve women and people of color. It hasn't so far.

And the experience issue is a bunch of bull. Obama has 11 years public office experience vs. Hillary who had 7.

"What I don't understand is why would the Clinton supporters threaten to bolt the DNC and go with McCain?"

Steadfast Hillary Clinton supporter Paul Krugman has the answer in his latest NY Times column. Apparently Clinton has run an exemplary, high-minded campaign while Barack Obama's campaign has been mean, nasty and personal towards Clinton.

In Krugman's view, Obama's campaign has blown up every Clinton miscue and faux pas into a "scandal" (his word) as if the media were just innocent bystanders. Krugman is strangely oblivious to the fact that Clinton's campaign never misses an opportunity to pile on a media feeding frenzy directed at Obama.

Krugman and most like-minded Clinton supporters won't admit the underlying issue. They believe that Clinton is simply entitled to be president, that it is her "turn". Some Clinton supporters in the Fray have been honest and forthright about this when have they accused Obama of "jumping the queue".

The sheer ridiculousness of this point of view need hardly be emphasized. I never heard Senior Senators Christopher Dodd or Joe Biden or their supporters whining and complaining about Junior Senators being in the race. But then, Dodd and Biden are grown-ups and they understand the rules of politics.

I am a Clinton supporter and I can tell you its all of you, that are making people turn to Mc Cain. Obama makes a mistake or mis-quotes something, and all of you break you neck's trying to justify it. Hillary does the smallest thing, you're pointing to web links, articles other hate filled etc.. Now I ask you, go find a link where Obama messed up. I thought so, stop the hate. It's people like you and all your hate filled kind that are sinking the party.

If it's truly Obama's supporters that will make someone who believe's 90+% of the POLICY issues of Obama vote for someone who maybe believe's 10% of the POLICY issues (McCain) then who were the Hillary supporters? No Democrat I know would prefer to vote for someone who supports staying in Iraq, OVERTURNING ROE v WADE, attacking Iran, screwing the environment, leaving taxes as unfair as they are, not getting universal health care etc, no gay rights etc, etc, etc.

Get over it. Seriously. I'm going to hold Hillary supporters responsible if enough of you people are seriously crazy and stupid enough to vote for McCain and he wins when he has no business winning this election. None! It has nothing to do with me being an Obama supporter, but everything to do with me being a DEMOCRAT and supporting the DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM.

@ Prim:

"Now I ask you, go find a link where Obama messed up."

Barack Obama messed up when he talked of bitter voters clinging to guns and religion. Indeed, he so upset Hillary Clinton that she was seen resorting to strong drink to calm her nerves.

"I thought so, stop the hate. It's people like you and all your hate filled kind that are sinking the party."

BTW, if you haven't noticed, the word "hate" has now overtaken "Hitler" as a substitute for debate. If you have an actual rebuttal to my post, I'd be glad to read it. "Hate" is not a rebuttal. It is a school-yard taunt.
