Just like them San Francisco lib activist judges stepping on the constitution and shoving gay marriage down our throats, here come more lib activist judges in Texas forcing children into sexual slavery. It makes me sick. What's next? Some activist court in New Jersey requires us to learn the Chinese national anthem so as not to offend anybody? Maybe some Nebraska court will decree corn with every meal? is there no end to the terror these activist judges will force upon us god-fearing conservatives who happen to be in the minority?

Liberal judges in Texas? With the governorship held by Republican Rick Perry and preceded by George W. Bush? You're serious? If anything, these were conservative judges following "family values." Besides, have you bothered to check with the LDS in Utah? They had some "mainstream" Mormons busted for polygamy. Does that mean they haven't really stopped practicing it? Why not ask Mitt Romney and get back to us on it?

I think you are confused as to what an "activist judge" is. An activist judge isn't defined as someone who makes decisions you disagree with. It is one who redefines the law to suit their own purposes instead of following the law.

Considering the reasoning for the reversal was because of procedural foul-up and for authorities not following state law, that would make the appeals court members exactly the opposite of activist judges.

Activist Judges!!??!! I find it unbelievable that the Federal Government was even able to get this far without the American people rising up. The government cannot, nor should it be able to, completely ignore the Constitution and the rights of the American people. Unfortunately our rights are being eroded daily and nobody seems to care, and don't call me some liberal lefty wacko. It seems to me that it is the left who would be in favor of this type of intrusive behavior--ie. big government.

The pathological hatred of the government is a recent phenomenon. It wasn't too long ago that most people assumed the government had our best interests at heart.

Then some rich malcontented liberals in the '60's decided we'd had enough and pretty soon it became fashionable to "stick it to the man". For some reason that entailed growing a beard and smoking pot.

I don't think these judges were liberal activists at all. Removing 400+ children from their families based on the evidence from a faked phone call and a dislike of their religious practices?? These judges are civil liberterians to say Hey where is the crime involving each child? You cannot remove a children from their family just because you don't like their religion. You must prove some potential for harm - for the specific child. Otherwise let's round up the Muslim children.

Activist judges in Texas?!??

The recent ruling from the appellate body comes down to a simple idea that doesn't sound terribly activist to me at all -- prove your damn case.

Before you rip a child from a family, just prove your damn case. Not with hearsay, but with acceptable evidence that applies to that child and that family.

This religious community strikes me as weird. However, weird is not a crime in America. I am much more disturbed that many of the facts, made in such a hysterical manner, seem to melt away upon further calm investigation.

No one wants kids abused, but no one wants government to have the power to dissolve a family solely on a whim. The government needs to prove the sexual abuse, in specific, to the children they want to remove or they should move along. And the day that this concept becomes an "activist" philosophy is a day that we've lost something in this country.

Those who practice polygamy are ignoring that it was disavowed in the late 19th century after the gov. made it illegal. Mainstream LDS core beliefs states (Articles of Faith) that they believe in obeying the law. That's why they don't condonie it, and if you care caught, you will go through excommunication for it. Adultery is also punishable by excommunication.
