Generals Don't Give Bad Assessments
by StevieB

"At his press conference this morning, President Bush, seeing the glass half full, pronounced the report "a cause for optimism"—and for staying on course." The president and Republicans demand that the country wait until General Petraeus reports in September.

When was the last time you heard a general say, "Well, we really screwed up, and our mission failed miserably! It's just not going to work!"

Does anyone, anywhere, expect that Patraeus and the president are going to say in September anything except, "We just need more time. We can't set any deadlines."

It could be argued that whatever Patraeus says is largely irrelevant to the larger problem of an Iraq that is ungovernable and divided along sectarian lines. The surge might just serve to pacify Baghdad, but by Patraeus own writings on counter insurgency, the total committed aren’t enough (should be a vaguely familiar concern.)

Patraeus has been quoted as saying that there isn’t a military solution to Iraq that it requires a political solution. There won’t be a political solution.

Isn’t it time to recognize, across American’s regional and political lines, that the Iraq occupation is an utter failure. Of course the level of humility and inspection required to extricate this country from Iraq is in just as short supply in Washington D.C. as in the Green Zone.

The last time Generals tried to tell their leader that he was incompetent was when Rommel and several German generals attempted to blow up Hitler with a bomb. It failed of course and they paid with their lives. Hitler continued his delusional attempts to win the war by playing with plastic armies that didn't exist until of course reality set in.

BUSH is no Hitler. Hitler was delusional but he had some intelligence and charisma. Bush is just a nasty, cunning individual who has rightly taken the helm of the RIGHT WING Lunatic ship and is of course steering it into oblivion.

The good news is that many americans are actually seeing that BUSH is truly a blind idiot unable to think beyond his preconceived notions and dreams.
