I think Clinton is playing very carefully with her words.
She's not really saying she's losing because of sexism. She's saying that there has been some sexism and that sexism is bad and should be fought. Then her followers look at the fact that she's losing and make the leap that she's losing because of sexism.
Some of it is sour grapes. When any candidate loses, their supporters are going to look for reasons why. Not everyone is ready to be a good sport about losing, so any candidate is going to have followers who look for unfair reasons why their candidate lost.
Some of it makes sense. If sexism exists, then there had to be at least a few people who would have voted for Clinton if she'd been a man. Even if it isn't a significant amount of people, they're still right that those people are sexist.
Hillary doesn't want to look like she's weak and looking for excuses, so she isn't saying she lost because of sexism. But Clinton doesn't have to say that, Geraldine Ferraro is saying it for her.
