Dont forget the teachers who probably need a long break more than the kids

I have no doubt of that. My son is ADHD and even with medication was very active and talkative throughout elementary & middle school.

Why do you medicate him?

I'm an adult with ADD and I've never been medicated until now (Adderall, a form of crystal meth). There is no drug on the market I would recommend giving to the yet-unformed mind. Any kind of artificial change made to young brains may have unforeseen consequences. Please read up on all the alternatives, including treatments without drugs (dietary change can have a significant influence) before you embark on the medicated approach. This should be a last-ditch approach; I'm glad I wasn't administered these drugs, for I had to learn to adjust without them. Painful, yes, but necessary and until better medications are available, the use of Ritalin and others others should be seen as yet another invasion of drug companies into mind control.

Not just for a break either. I've seen many teachers take on summer jobs because the salaries for teachers in my area are ridiculously low.

I agree with this... Do doctors know the exact problems people will encounter later? And, I also believe that there is a non-medicine belief to help with ADD/ADHD. This I will not bring up because I have no knowledge of it whatsoever. Anyways, if anyone does please reply. Thanks.

Doctors don't know shit when it comes to psychiatry. They're mostly guessing. Drug companies convince the shrinks what drugs to supply, and Adderall is high on the list of "benevolent" drugs that seem to have few deleterious side effects.

The drug itself was developed by the Nazis to keep their troops controllable and improve morale.
