So, I'll help you just a little: "Appeasment" does not mean talking with our adversaries. If it did, that would make GW Bush an appeaser for talking with North Korea (remember the "axis of evil"?) or Iran, or Reagan for talking with Gorbachev.

Words have actual meanings. Republicans got a lot of mileage over the past decade or so by daily re-parsings of simple words and phrases (think "pre-emptive war", "WMD", "torture"). I believe that has jumped the shark now.

For my own part, I think ANY politician who's laboring to re-parse simple words is a politician who is a) deeply cynical and immoral, and b) lying to you. I have similar feelings about any politician who says words are "just words".

We will not be voting for JFK, nor for Jesus, nor for God. We will be voting for human beings we hope might have the intelligence and character to make good decisions in the absence of perfect information.

And I REALLY hope President Obama can get America free of this "Emperial Presidency" that has so terribly damaged our political will.

Nor did J.F.K. get where he was thru affirmative action. In those days you had to achieve on merit alone!

"Appeaser" is another buzzword, provided by the Bush Administration, for use by those who either can not or will not think for themselves, understand issues, or accept any mental work that muddies their necessarily ultra narrow view of the world. Yeah, don't worry they'll do your thinking for you, and the country will end up in dire trouble.

Otherwise it takes a thoughtful inquisitive populace to govern itself.

Well Mrliberal: If people would get past the color of ones skin we would never have had to have Afirmative Action mandates now would we? Or are you trying to say that blacks and other minorities will never be as smart as the white male in this country? Until you can honestly say that EVERY business owner and EVERY hiring manager in this country regardless of what industry it is, truly hires a person based on their MERIT and not on their skin color then Affirmative Action can be thrown out the window, but until then those of us (and yes, I'm black) in the minority will still need it.
