Who wants experienced politicians anyway?
by hawaiimike

George W has proven that experience in politics is really meaningless and useless if you've got the wrong philosophy and agenda for the country.

Dick Cheney

Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush

US Congressman 1979-1989

White House Chief Of Staff 1975-1977

Donald Rumsfeld

US Secretary of Defense 1975-1977

White House Chief of Staff 1974-75

US Congressman 1963-1969

What do you think John McCain will have to offer as far as a cabinet? I'd expect more "experience".

Just curious. Did you vote for Kerry or Bush in 2004? Based on your post it should have been obvious that you'd choose the guy who volunteered for combat and was decorated for his actions, instead of the guy who couldn't even follow orders to get a physical and was stripped of his flight status.

I Voted for Senator Kerry
by HellFire

he went to Vietnam, where as President Bush did not.

I also Voted for Vice President Gore over Governor Bush, as Vice President Gore went to Vietnam.

I Voted for Bush Sr. when he ran for President, I Voted for Senator Dole when he ran for President, both World War II Combat Veterans.

I have too much Honor to Vote for Senator Obama..... I would not Vote for the man if my very life depended on it..... not if I had a gun to my head.

I view Senator Obama officially as Unpatriotic.

I view Senator McCain officially as a War Hero.

Understand this: I also see McCain as a war hero and have posted against people who have said anything negative about his service. I left the republican party because of the way they treated him in 2000. Karl Rove slandered McCain and then McCain actually campaigned for Bush. I found that to be offensive all by itself.

His stay at the Hanoi Hilton is in no way qualification for being president.

I have no idea why you think Obama is unpatriotic.

Senator McCain being held as a POW
by HellFire

Does not disqualify him for running for Office... it is up to each Voter, on an Individual Basis, to decide how much Senator McCain's Military Time is beneficial to his being President of the United States of America.

Senator Obama has Refused to place his Hand over his Heart during the Playing of the National Anthem, making him Unpatriotic.

HellFire....oh, never mind, it would be wasted energy.

You're an imbecile. He forgot to do it one time on tape, and pathetic sheeple like you think it means something. Congratulations on being an easily manipulated retard.

Until this flap came up, 99% of Americans at sporting events didn't put their hands on the national anthem. I'd venture to say most people still don't even know all the words to national anthem. I would bet that Obama knows what every Amendment of the Constitution says by the number, and you'd still think he's unpatriotic.
Re: U.S. Constitution

You know it's funny, but I can't seem to find the clause in the Constitution that says the president has to be a combat veteran. Maybe you could tell me where that is?
Well, Senator Obama does not know about the USC
by HellFire

That’s United States Code..... which is Federal Law.

United States Code clearly states the proper protocol when the National Anthem is being Played, when the U.S. Flag is Displayed, and when the U.S. Flag is not Displayed.

I do not care what Unpatriotic people do at Sporting Events.... and Senator Obama pointed out that he refuses to place his hand over his heart at least in part because of those Unpatriotic people at Sporting Events, when he joked about not doing it.... but, regardless, I care about someone running for the Office of President of the United States of America who Refuses to Place his Hand over his Heart during the Playing of the National Anthem.

I believe VSO's (Veterans Service Organizations) are, for the most part, going to work overtime to help ensure that everyone in the Nation knows just how Unpatriotic Senator Obama really is.

There have been 11 Presidents with no Military Service
by HellFire

Not that many..... but still, there have been 11.

Just one more Hurdle for Senator Obama to try and overcome before Election Day.

Re: There have been 11 Presidents with no Military Service
by Greatbear452

So in other words, it's not a requirement.

Thank you.

Re: There have been 11 Presidents with no Military Service
by Greatbear452

Oh, and just for fun:

My question was "combat veteran" not military service. I suppose Bush's AWOL stint in the Air National Guard counts as military service, but no one can seriously claim that he was a combat veteran.

There were better Veterans running against Governor Bush
by HellFire

and President Bush in 2000 and 2004, I voted for those better Veterans, but, sadly, they lost each time.

What I find strange is that in 2000 and 2004 Democrats were all about Military Service being important.... about the importance of being in Combat, but not so much this time.

I view such as a matter of Honor.... and Democrats lacking in such.
