Race is the elephant in the room and I know a lot of lifelong Democrats who won't vote for Barry because he is beige. Of course, being in Missouri, a lot of folks won't vote for him because his momma was from Kansas :)
Just remembering the '04 Dem convention and the big deal made about O'Bama being "black," not to mention John Kerry's comments on the subject and all the puff about how O'Bama was going to put a new face on America to the world, it's disingenuous to think that we can hide the elephant under the lampshade.
For me, the economy is the main issue and if O'Bama embraces St. Bill's strong Dollar regimen rather than Reagan's "deficits don't matter," I'll vote for him. If he doesn't, I might vote McCain so GOP gets the blame for Iraq and the recession, or I may vote third party, like I did when Reagan ran against Carter or Dukakis against Willie Horton. I am legitimately undecided and I am not alone.
