To try to dispel your mutual fears, I would say that Israel can and should survive as long as it represents and safeguards the interests of Uncle Sam. Hamas and Hezbollah don't matter much for the moment since their sponsor which is no secret to anyone (like US for Israel), is Iran and-to a certain extent-Syria. If the real reason is known, the astonishment becomes void. The international community is working on that, i.e. to put an end to Iran's ambitions and interference in the region and at the same time leave the Arabs reconsider their destiny themselves, without interference in their home affairs.

Amen

well, if you look at it as a generic problem leaving aside race/ethnicity/religion/etc. it's just two major powers (locally) striving for domination of a region. Israel and Iran. And a few secondary powers which obviously had aspirations of dominance a generation ago and which haven't entirely lost them. israel's been the local junior superpower for a while, but the US has been kind enough to give Iran a big boost up recently, and the other countries are starting to rethink their former positions vis a vis solidarity against "the imperial aspirations of the zionists" when the alternative rears its head.

What do you mean by that? Could you elaborate a bit more?

Rectifying

All I personally know is that the US is-through sanctions and threats-trying hard to avoid the anger of those junior powers if ever Israel carried out an air strike on targets in Iran. The USA has carefully refrained to become more involved by opening other hostile fronts which has effectively worked so far.

They may make a lot of nose about it, but they'd be relieved. They know damn well after 60 years that Israel is not interested in dominating their internal politics; after how many years with nuclear weapons, has there ever been any suspicion that israel was even thinking about using them? Whereas iran's cannon is seen as somewhat looser.

for instance.

* They may make a lot of noise about it, but they'd be relieved.

I am not so sure about that, because the number of terrorists that has excluded Iran will increase dangerously in those very Gulf and bordering states. No one can tell if the Iraqi scenario won't occur since it was proved that the US troops have not faced resistance from the Iraqis, but from some puppets whose brains had been washed, and who belong to different Arab States including neighbouring.

** How many years with nuclear weapons, has there ever been any suspicion that Israel was even thinking about using them?

The Israeli nuclear weapons are first meant to be deterrent and then would be offensive, especially if an imminent and overwhelming attack is to occur by its neighbours. Nuclear radiations won't exclude any including Israel itself. I am sure the Israelis know that, I hope.

Amen!
