It's time for Hillary to concede
by wanakee

Once Obama surpasses that most pledged delegates mark on Tuesday, it's time for Hillary to stop whining about Michigan, Florida and popular votes in Puerto Rico, to rally around the nominee...

Not sure why she is staying in this race at this point, but any good she gets out of it is now gone. I hope she shows up at the Tampa rally Wednesday to throw her support and "work her heart out" for the nominee.

It's time!

If Hillary can divide the party enough to sabotage the election in November, she thinks she will be able to come back in 2012 as our saviour. Little does she know that we will not forget her deeds of 2008, if indeed the nation or the world is still intact after 4 more years of a McBush presidency. God help us!

Does anyone have a more plausible or optimistic reason why she doesn't concede and join us in defeating McCain?

No, I expect that this is not going to happen. Clinton is expected to win in Kentucky by 28 points and she is working to reduce Obama's lead in Oregon. Concerning the former, she will again make the case that she has a broader base.

It seems that Clinton plans to continue her pursue of the nomination as the under dog and as a "victim," with the expectation that those that sympathize with her will take their discontent and outrage to the convention. This approach is becoming significantly more divisive.

After Tuesday, with mixed results, the media will then question Obama's electability. He will again not only have to deal with this question but also continue to deal with republican attacks.

He will be campaigning on both fronts. This prolonged primary is really frustrating and one would think that the superdelegates would intercede. As Clinton supports are frustrated about Michigan and Florida there are others, like myself who are frustrated with the superdelegates and the national democratic party who is very much aware of the need to come together at this crucial point. However, it seems that this is politics as usual disregarding the disadvantages to the nominee.

Actually, Clinton getting out of the race would be very bad for Obama right now. He'll need her supporters in the fall; that being the case, he needs the legitimacy of his nomination to be absolutely ironclad, airtight, and unassailable, so that no one feels Clinton was forced out of the race unfairly. Having her stay in the race through the end of the primaries is vital to that.

Clinton herself knows she's lost. That much is obvious--you'll notice she's stopped taking shots at Obama and has started concentrating fire on McCain and Bush instead, not to mention talking about the importance of Democrats coming together in the fall. She's staying in the race because it's good for her as well as Obama. By sticking it out, she comes out looking like a fighter rather than a quitter. Plus she gets some extra leverage with Obama when it comes time for them to sit down and hash out a deal.

She actually is supporting Obama at this point. She just hasn't come out and said so yet. Once the last primary is over and Dean badgers the supers into making up their minds, she'll concede, but not until then.

Thanks Dausuul!

When you put that way, it makes more sense. I have noticed a let-up of attacks from her personally, but some of her supporters continue. I'll wait until the primaries are over before I start viewing with alarm. But if this thing goes all the way to the convention, there will be Hell to pay in November.

I have similar thoughts regarding this too, but still not sire about Hillary, winning KY would reveal again what her real intentions are, either having it at the back of her mind that she still is the electable candidate, or just wanting to finish the primaries, her victory speech will tell.
