It used to mean something.

What has happen to our world when the most monsterous, the most destructive, the most reviled man who ever lived can be publicly equated with a two bit nothing of a third world politican with an erector set nuclear program? When you called someone "Hitler," it used to mean something!

I am so embarrassed for the gullible Israelis who cheered our dim-witted President's recent remarks. Do they really have no more grasp of their own history than Bush does of ours? Or are they just the sheep they appear to be?

Gullible, Dim-Witted Israelis
by Urquhart

Fuckin sheep. Somehow, they seem to feel that Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Iranian Mullahs are just as insusceptible to sweet reasoning blandishments as were the Nazis. Morons.

They even applaud fear-mongering American presidents who vow their support. Twits.

Certainly, people living in a three-mile-wide strip of land, surrounded on all sides by countries that are bent on their annihilation, and are routinely launching rockets on their shopping malls, secure in the knowledge that a cease-fire will stop effective retatiation, surely these people are foolish children, scared of their own shadows, and worthy of our contempt.

Fuck Israel. Yeah! Idiots.

I would be guessing
by JV-12

but I do not think the Israelis are enamored with Bush’s acumen either.

Two things are contributing to their so called cheerleading. One, they are just being politically courteous to the head of the state that is powerful and a strong ally. Two, with the USA’s greater presence in the Middle east they don’t feel quite so alone and unprotected if greater war should break out with them and their neighbors. Israel’s own survival or security has always had to be their foremost concern.

three-mile-wide strip of land?????

Who are you talking about? Certainly not the Israelis. Maybe the Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank?

Must I point out to you, sir, that it trivializes what that singularly heinous man did to millions of the Jews (not to forget the French, Dutch, Poles, Russians, and so many others) of Europe when one compares him to Iran's loud-mouthed Sonny Bono look-alike of a half-assed leader? Don't you think, or don't you?

If I were in their unhappy shoes I might do much the same. Still, it's a tragic mistake.

The Nazi Comparison Is Apt
by Urquhart

Islamofascists are not rational negotiators. They use negotiation as a time-buying ploy. And their goals never vary.

Oh, and they're total evil.

That half of the comparison works fine. The Obama-Chamberlain thing takes a bit more finesse.

You suggest that:

"Islamofascists are not rational negotiators. . ."

We'll leave alone for the moment the tragi-comical conflation of an extreme right-wing Italian political movement from the last century with one of our world's most important and respected religions, let's just say it's a painfully stupid term and move on.

If there really were such a hybrid abomination, what difference would it make if they were, "not rational negotiators?" Our current administration is so scared and unsure of themselves in a diplomatic sense that America won't talk to anyone unless they first publicly agree with everything we want.

Bush spoke the truth and the Israelis applauded. I'm not surprised you disagree with that.

The truth about what? Did he call himself the worst President our nation has ever been saddled with? Did he admit he lies every time his mouth opens? Did he agree he should be handed over to the World Court so he can be tried for "War Crimes" and "Crimes against Humanity?" Guess I missed that part of his remarks.
Please
by biteoftheweek

that is the oldest, most tired piece of crap.

Do your really believe that Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt want nothing but Israel's destruction?

Seriously?

Really?

aw, come'on

Re: Please

You mean you don't believe it??

Re: Please

Good god, Jack! Do you really want to start a religious war with all of the Arabs? Have you actually bought into that laughable, "Left Behind," horseshit? Is unlimited support of Israel what you consider the the foremost, if not the only, objective of our nation's foreign policy?

Why do I bother to ask, of course you do.

Do you?
by biteoftheweek
dude... Don't you think that they have other problems to deal with?
"sweet reasoning blandishments"?
by gmat
Why such derision?

There's more to the history of statecraft than Chamberlain and Hitler. How about Nixon and the Chinese? Or any President, from Truman to Reagan, and the Soviets.

Actually, why would Bush even bring it up at all? Iran's eating his lunch.
