Kaplan's blundering simile

"If he wanted to be truly bold, he might have proposed the accomplishment of his vision by Israel's 70th anniversary, a mere (and foreseeable) decade hence, as John F. Kennedy did with the moon walk. "
The moon landing was a scientific and technological accomplishment, entirely within the control of the US itself. The idea of a lame duck US president setting a deadling for peace between other parties is an extreme case of the mental illness that seems to afflict every US president who somehow imagines that we can solve someone else's problem: mainly the Palestinians' unrelenting opposition to Israel's existence.
I believe the new "hip hop" reverend who replaced Wright at Trinity cites the moon landing as proof that the government is just dragging its feet on solving the (black community's) drug problem. Kaplan's "logic" is no better.
