When they're not wanking on the flag, the right-wingers talk a good game about freedom and liberty but they only want it on their terms. This is a victory for freedom-lovers everywhere, and a blow (Be nice!) has been dealt to religious kooks and haters who would deny that freedom to anyone because they don't like the cut of his jib, and to their plan for staining our Constitution (or what's left of it) with their intolerance and ignorance. Two words for you folks: Larry Craig.

A great day for freedom, as long as you don't consider democratic self-government an important freedom. If only we could get the philosopher kings on the courts to decide all questions, and get rid of the horrible remnants of self-government, perhaps this country could finally be freed from kooks and haters.

Did you know that the California Legislature passed a bill legalizing Gay Marriage only to have it vetoes twice by the Gov.? He said it was a matter for the courts to decide. Now the courts have decided.

Massachusetts had the chance to make a state constitutional amendment and it never got off the ground. The State representatives that voted for it was less than the 25% to get it on a ballot and then many were sumarily voted out of office.

We live in a democratic republic and it has been working. Some states have decided to amend their constitutions and some have been setting up civil unions and two are legalizing Gay Marriage.
