What Problem?
by kaizergrande

Something nobody seemed to notice last night. Barack Obama won the Nebraska primary on the same night West Virginia voted. Like West Virginia, Nebraska is a mostly white, mostly rural, mostly working class state; and also like WV its primary was totally irrelevant to the outcome of the Democratic Party nomination.

Watching the talking heads over analyze the Dem primary is like watching a constantly looping episode of the Twilight Zone. A freshman senator is beating the most famous woman in the world and wife of a former president in an intra party election and somehow it's the new guy that's falling short because he's not winning 100% of the vote?

The media's pornographic obsession with the so called white working class vote demonstrates the innate bigotry that exists in even the so called liberal media. Nobody's freaking out about Hillary winning only 8% of the black vote even though she can't win the general election without a huge majority of that vote; everyone just assumes that no matter how much she and her husband insult them black folks know their place on the plantation and they'll fall in line and vote for massa's wife when the time comes.

Personally I prefer the racism that comes from ignorance to that which masquerades as intellectual discourse.

Umm... Nebraska had its caucus on February 9. Maybe that's why nobody noticed it last night. Just a guess.

Umm... Nebraska also had its beauty contest primary last night. Maybe you should read before you write.

Yes there was another primary yesterday. The media hardly mentioned Nebraska. It was like a footnote - saying Obama had earlier won the caucus there, end of story. I guess it is another unimportant state, unworthy of some attention. Maybe it was because Clinton didn't win or wasn't expected to win. Maybe it wasn't a big enough state to matter in her eyes. It would have been fair to at least mention this other win for Obama's sake.

Umm... Maybe you should research before you write. Pwoxby even gave you a link showing that the Democratic Caucuses for Nebraska were Feb 9! Here is another:

It was the Republican Primary that was on May 13. It's fine you were confused, but don't insult somebody who is just trying to clear things up.

Actually a Democratic primary was also held. Feb. 9 was a caucus. And yes Obama won. Exactly how much time did Clinton spend there? How come she doesn't care about Nebraska?

Thank you for providing that link, Davelias12. I admit that I made a mistake. It's clear, though, why the media would ignore it. How reputable can a result be when it doesn't count for anything. With no delegates at stake, what incentive would voters have to go to the polls. Only 90,000 people voted in Nebraska, while 330,000 voted in West Virginia, despite being very similar in overall population.
