It really is a shame that this issue is so divisive. As the greatest nation in the world we have many larger eggs to fry than whether a man can marry a man or a woman can marry a woman. I personally don't approve of the idea, but much like others who have a somewhat more level-headed disposition, I would rather see the government ratify homosexual unions than any number of other decisions that could potentially bring this nation to it's knees. Where's the discussion about the economy? The war in Iraq? Alternative fuel/fuel sources?
We are truly blessed to be able to have such an argument!
This country was founded on the idea that each person has the freedom to live the life they chose as long as it doesn't impair another person's ability to live theirs. Homosexual marriage or union doesn't stop me from getting married. It doesn't keep me from having a job, getting health insurance benefits, or making money, or having a family. It shouldn't keep a homosexual person from those things either.
While no one knows for certain what effects raising a child in a same sex union has, negative or otherwise, I can't imagine that it would mean the end of civilization. There are plenty of children in the world that need homes. It's true that the Bible says, "Go forth, be fruitful and multiply." It would serve us better as a nation to save those children affected by the AIDS epidemic in our own as well as other countries than to argue about what kind of personality some self-entitled American child might have because their parents are homosexual.
For the record: I'm a born-again Christian. I'm a happily married straight woman who loves her husband with all her heart. My views have nothing to do with being liberal, conservative, Republican, Democrat or other - it has to do with love. There are so many things in the world that are more worth my time than trying to make other people live by MY beliefs.
Judge not lest you be judged.

Love the sinner, not the sin.
