One point the author misses is that "All My Friends," and its adjacent track, "Someone Great," both closely resemble New Order's 1982 hit "Temptation." The songs are very similar both in structure and theme (although not in melody). I think the relationship is likely intentional and it fits nicely within nostalgic context of the newer tracks.

Re the other poster's comment about the likely demographic of LCD Soundsystem listeners, the sad fact is that most people 37+ aren't buying new music these days, and it's reasonable to suggest that the target demographic for the song is younger.

If you want hip new music aimed for the older demographic, check out the Hold Steady. They're referencing Springsteen and Led Zepplin instead of New Order.
