Republicans, Dems, and meritocracy
by chnews

Why is it when Republicans reach into the private sector for talent, they choose among the least talented? Think Carly Fiorina. Think George W. Bush. But at least Carly "stay on message."

Meanwhile, Bill Clinton goes out and gets Robert Rubin. The gold standard of private sector competence applied to the public sector in a generation.

Ironic, ain't it?

Robert Rubin And Carly Fiorina
by LeRoy_Was_Here

I was simply thunderstruck, and maybe flabbergasted, that Daniel Gross would try to draw an analogy between Robert Rubin and Carly Fiorina.

Senator Obama should get Robert Rubin on board as one of his top economic advisers. Heck, Rubin would even make a good surprise VP pick for Obama.

Given a choice between Obama/Rubin or McCain/Fiorina, I don't think there is much doubt as to who the business community would gravitate to.

And it ain't Carly.

Could be worse

i.e. when Repubs draw on the dregs of politics for leadership (Negroponte, Wolfowitz, et al).

or worst of all: the dregs of both politics and business (Cheney)
