re: Obama's neglect of W. Virginia
by nmdemo

What I can't understand is that Obama is so into campaigning against McCain when he hasn't had the nomination yet. Obama head has gotten so big that he thinks he is too good to campaign in the states that are left. Who does he think is going to get him in office if he is the nominee? But that's o.k. with me as that says what kind of person he will be and my opinion of him is not what I want as a commander in chief. I guess in a way he figured that W. Virginia didn't have enough black population for him to win so why bother campaigning there. Also, I just saw his spiritual mentor giving a speech in Washington and it was very interesting. Obama has everybody fooled about denouncing Wright, but as Wright said when asked how he felt when Obama denounced him, "he didn't denounce me, I am still his minister. Obama just said what he said because he speaks as a politician and only says what he has to say to win". Anybody can check it out and listen to his speech, It came out on MSNBC live today. So you see people, Obama has been lying about Wright all along just to get nominated. If that is what is coming out, can you imagine what else Obama is hiding? This man is unelectable cause he will say and do whatever it takes to get ahead. Do we really need someone like him running this nation? Is he just saying what people want to hear but not intending to keep his word once he is in office? Obama has too many flaws and if he is the nominee, I will vote for McCain. At least with McCain, I know what to expect, but with Obama he is the type I wouldn't trust.

"he will say and do whatever it takes to get ahead."

You mean to say that you don't think Clinton or any other politician wouldn't do the same. Clintons gas tax has no support among economists and congress and has no chance of being passed. Also, the oil companies would just raise the prices more to deal with a tax. She is trying to sell something to the voters to get elected even though it has no merit. I acknowledge your point about Obama trying to do anything to get elected, but there are plenty of contradictions and holes in your argument. Try not to be so biased.

The biggest part about your post that makes little sense is that you would vote for McCain over Obama. If you look at Clinton's webpage and Obama's, they're almost identical, so you'd be voting against, what Clinton stands for, which is a contradiction. Try to look into things a little more closely.

Fine, you're not voting for Obama because his minister is a crackpot? So what? Let me know exactly why it matters and why it's still okay for McCain to keep Hagee in tow and for Clinton to keep Graham.

And what flaws does Obama have?

And what about McCain and his complete reversal of stances. He was against the tax cuts that left us in dire straits now and he is for them now. He was against Robertson, Falwell and the far right, now he can't wait to get in bed with them. He was a member of the Keating 5, denounced giving out favors, then helps a guy get a deal on some government land. He doesn't like lobbyists but he hass them running his campaign and may have had one doing more. Come on, just them all the same or don't judge at all.

Please, Obama wasn't going to win WV and everyone has known it for a long time. And where was McCain? How many visits did he pay to WV?

@ nmdemo:

"What I can't understand is that Obama is so into campaigning against McCain when he hasn't had the nomination yet."

Barack Obama became the presumptive Democratic nominee a week ago when he crushed Hillary Clinton in the North Carolina primary. Obama would just be wasting precious time and money if he were to continue to campaign against a zombie candidate.

Obama 08!

nmdemo, your last sentence says it all "...Obama he is the type I wouldn't trust". That pretty much sums up what your argument really is.

Go ahead, vote for McCain. We can trust that he will continue the war, attempt to privatize social security, do nothing about reducing health care costs, and continue to keep taxes low for the very rich. Yep, you can sure trust him... and all of the lobby types working with him. And we can trust that you are one pretty dumb individual.

I am tired of the Clintonistas saying that they will vote for McCain over Obama. Just go ahead and do it -- you don't need my permission. Do you think that the fear that you will vote for McCain will make Obama's supporters rethink their support for him -- Oh yeah, I had decided that Obama was a better candidate for me, but nmdemo would vote for McCain, so, by gosh and by golly, I'll throw that aside and support Hillary.

If you honest-to-God believe that McCain will be a better President, then that's who you should vote for. But, if you vote for him because you are in a snit because your candidate -- despite the Clinton brand, the support of the DNC superdelegates (the only group in which she still leads), the fund-raising apparatus -- could not win the nomination, then you may want to rethink your voting strategy. McCain will not end the war, will work to abolish a woman's right to choose, will be ineffective in dealing with the economy, may lose his temper at an inopportune moment and get the country into trouble, and will pack the Supreme Court with Alito and Roberts clones. So, if you believe that Rev Wright's intemperate remarks overwhelms that possible future, go for it. Just don't come back crying when things have turned out worse than you imagined.

Agreed.

It's a complete contradiction. Why were they not voting Republican in the first place, that would at least make sense.
