Calling all HRC supporters who support a unified party
by zebra

Maybe this is one of my pollyanna moments, but this is an appeal to all HRC supporters:

Acknowleding that EITHER Hillary or Barack would need a unified party to win in November, I am asking you this:

If the results were reversed, what would you be saying to heartbroken, bitterly disappointed Obama supporters about why we should nonetheless support Hillary?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

He seems like a good guy- get some more experience and we'll see you in 8 years.

It's probably to late for a completely unified party. It's not Hillary's fault and it's not Obama's either. People believe in their convictions and they all have a voice. Getting them to swap over to a unified party is like getting a child to eat their veggies. Sooner or later, they probably will, but I think there isn't enough time to do that before the election.

I don't think it will be divided, not in the end. If you are a true Democrat (not one of those Regan Democrats) then you would never allow McCain to continue an unwarranted war, possibly get us into a war with Iran, continue to give tax breaks to the wealthy, avoid Universal Health Care, attempt to privatize Social Security, continue to outsource American jobs, and if you are a feminist you will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER vote for a candidate who would appoint judges who would overturn Roe vs. Wade! I guess we will find out who the real children are voting this year, if older voters, especially older feminists are not voting for Obama, then apparently they are acting the children in this election, not the young people who are voting to protect these things.

I do think the Clintonites MIGHT come around. I say that being very bitter right now and working for the party but as I've told myself...I need some time...and I need to see Obama debate McCain- then I think we'll all feel better about voting for someone we havent fought hard to see President the last couple years. This is really speaking for myself tho- I have talked to a few people that are Clinton supporters and they say they'll write her in before they'll vote Obama. Thing is- those people have NEVER not voted democrat and this is such a pivotal year. I think alot of people dont realize that Obama has rallied the youth- who God bless them probably werent even registered before and the AA who were the biggest of Clinton supporters before. I think we're losing more dems by Obama getting the nod and Clinton not on the ticket.

I'd say this: I savor your anguish. That I may succeed means that you must fail, and fail you deserve to. Your candidate is a glorified dogcatcher who keeps skeevy company. Your candidate's wife is a mouthy control freak and, while that in itself is no curiosity in a party filled with them, she's especially annoying, perhaps topping even Elizabeth Edwards for the prize as shrill harpy. And while Hillary Clinton is a ruthless, loathesome automaton who ought to be seriously deprogrammed, she's the devil we know.

The Democratic Party has fouled its own nest, and deserves every bit of the tearful recrimination it visits upon itself.

Pass the popcorn.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I do know how polarizing this contest has been. I recall that I myself, sometime around NV, "confessed" that notwithstanding that I've voted the straight democratic ticket for my entire 25 year voting career, if Clinton were the nominee, I would vote for McCain (or stay home). But having said that, I then decided I'd better read up on McCain. After about 10 minutes of reading, I realized that no matter what, I could never vote for McCain. Not only that, I was so scared by what I read that I realized there was no way I could ever stay home either.

Anyway, thanks again. I really do appreciate your willingness to address my question of party unity in a sincere way.

party unity

Thank you for your unconditional and enduring support of The Party. Now, please hold still while I loop this lead-line through the ring in your nose.

That's it. This way, prole.

DAVE, it appears to me that you are the only poster on this thread that has a a ring in your nose, and you will be lead off to slaughter rather than vote for Obama. Pity. But, don't complain if McCain wins...that was your doing.

TJ: Your inane post compels me to inform you that:

1. You are a fool.

2. It's "led," not "lead off to slaughter."

3. I look forward to seeing "party unity" on display in Denver.

Please get back to work.

Dave, a typo doesn't make me stupid. You, on the other hand......
Re: peace zebra,

Nothing Obama supporters can say or do would make me vote for McCain. However they should stop snarling at Hilly supporters everytime anyone says a kind word about her.

I believe many Obamanites are RNC Moles....

and no I'm not paranoid

What a negative pile of garbage! You're not much fun to hang out with, huh? You've probably heard that before though. The Democratic Party has "fouled" its own nest? What a disgusting thought...and all because we've effectively nominated a glorified dogcatcher (is that what we're comparing United States Senators to these days?). Very nice.

Pass the barf bag.

Obamacrats want to disenfranchise

the rest of the Democratic Party. There, that's even shorter and actually on point . . . your REAL point
I am beginning to agree with you.
by Gatewood

I'll have some of that popcorn. This nomination process is becoming a real hoot.

Hang in there Hillary. I want to hear these Obamacrats REALLY start howling in rage and continue to reveal their innate bigotry against the working class and mainstream democrats in general.
